Removing inner fenders Question

Any one remove inner fenders for paint? I have motor pulled, would like to remove inner fenders to get repainted. They come out from underside with ease ?

Re: Removing inner fenders Question

Relatively easy to get out. You either have to jack up the truck or remove the wheel. Probably easiest to just remove the wheel. There are several bolts and many will be stuck or need some type of persuasion...but, if you pulled the motor you can handle the inner fenders

Re: Removing inner fenders Question

All the ones I've taken out the nuts which are a clip on style with a molded nut made into them always break and free spin with No way to put pliers to hold them. I've had to use a cut off wheel and cut the head off. If you decide to remove them get some good penetrating spray and spray them several times before you even try. P. B blaster works very well. P.s this all depends on how old the clips are and when the last time they was off. Good luck.

I broke all but 1 of my j-nuts but they were super easy to drill out. Napa sells them, if you do a search you can find the nuts and the bolts part numbers.

Use new bolts/Jnuts to put it back together. Most vendors have them.

Re: Removing inner fenders Question

So the inner fenders rotate outward, rather than inward toward the engine? I thought I would have to remove the bumper and fenders to get the inner out. And the right can be removed with the engine in the truck? The front of my right inner is all rusted and corroded off, probably from a battery leaking down.

inner fenders drop out from the bottom. I have gotten them out with the tire still on, buts its easier to just remove the wheel.

there is no need to touch the engine, bumper, anything other than whatever is bolted to the inner fenders themselves.

See if you have a vendor near by where you can pick up the inner fender. Shipping on sheet metal is very often truck freight and the shipping will cost more than the piece.
