Need info on how to remove tailgate band

I'm in the process of parting out a 89 K5 Blazer.
I would like to remove the tailgate band but not sure on how to go about it.

If anyone could shed some light on what needs to be done to remove the tailgate band I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Scott

There's been a couple of times I had to lower the tailgate and then wind the glass out (supported of course) to access something inside the 'gate shell. I've taken a couple of those bands off before but I don't recall if that was why. Take off the inner access panel and have a peek.

Thanks John, I'll pull the panel & take a look.

I take the cable off of the motor and then put my drill onto the end of the cable. Start slowly to be sure you are spinning the right way, and then you can run the window out (supporting it as mentioned above).

Once the glass is out of the way, I think the panel is attached with little nuts on the inner part of tailgate. The panel itself has threaded studs attached to it that go into the tailgate sheet metal, then bolted together with nuts.

If I'm lucky, it might be a 10MM socket. :)
