new harness problems

I am currently putting in a new American Autowire update harness and I have finished the front light and engine harness and have the dash kit in place. My problem is when I turn my headlight switch on, I have 11.85-12 volts of power to my light connector, but the bulb will not turn on. Neither will the grill park lamps. Also, when I try to turn the key to spin the motor, I get nothing. Not even a click. I have a Powermaster Mini Starter. I know it works because I did the old screwdriver across posts trick. Whats going on? When I test power at alternator I get power at all connections.

If we still cant figure out by noon friday I'll call AAW.

Did you put the fuses in?

Sounds like you did put the fuses in if you have power at the light connector. The only other thing you need would be a good ground to complete the circuit.

I did grind down to bare metal on the triangular brackets holding the fender to the radiator support and bolt the headlight grounds down. turn signal and fender lights have no ground.

Or do you mean the engine to frame, engine to body and body to frame grounds? Should I have a radiator core to frame ground?

Regardless of what AAW has in their kits for grounds you need to have:

Battery to core support
Core support to frame
Chassis to engine
Box to frame

For example on th lighting harnesses for 73-up trucks the headlight ground is on both sides of the core support-the RH one share a core support ground along with the battery and a 10ga ground to frame as well.

Found my issues: I added a radiator to frame ground and engine to frame ground along with a new bulb and works good. I was able to turn the motor by bridging the neutral safety switch connectors.

Companies like AAW and Painless often go by simple GM factory schematics-often they neglect multiple revisions and/or changes to production prints which in the end give customers install problems unknowingly.
