Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
4 Attachment(s)
Can give me any insight into if it was a kit or option or anything? Looks pretty factory on the outside and nicely done all around but wondering if anyone has any knowledge on this or maybe I'm just green too and it was a common thing I just haven't seen. This is a 1971 K10 for reference and pretty stock Cheyenne.

Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
It looks like someone did a really nice job of grafting in some square body fuel filler doors.

The factory never put doors on the trucks. There was a factory auxiliary tank option and they just stuck the fillet through the side of the box like on the pictured one.

Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
Looks like a nice job, the doors look like late 70s Chevy truck, and the paint looks like someone spent some time on that, way cool.Do you have the cover for the fill pipe hose?

My cover was a modified one off of a Suburban or Blazer.

Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
I don't have any cover for the fill pipe hoses. It looks like by the little sheet metal screw holes, some were made at some point and would be pretty simple to do I would imagine. Maybe thats a little project in my future.

Those are a lot nicer than the things on my truck, that's for sure!

Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
You know you need to post some much better pics of your truck so we can check out the whole thing. From the small shots I really like paint job.

I have the same set up that was ready to go in, but decided to keep my tank in the cab. I’m holding onto all the stuff for a possible future truck. I guess the thing that made my decision was I couldn’t bring myself to cut into my pristine bedside to put the filler door in. |
Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
That's a nice job someone has done on the filler door.
Could you please post some more pictures of the whole truck, the color and paint scheme looks very cool. |

Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
My bedside wasn't so pristine when this was added. Had been collecting parts for 20* yrs. Heck the oak bed was a longbed out of a wrecking yard in 1998. Kept it assembled with cross members etc. sitting on edge all these years. Had a whole $30 invested in it. I think the truck came out great, but that is why I spent the money.

Very nice truck Chris!

Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
Thanks Smitty. I am really happy with it. It’s a good solid truck. Looks cleaner in pics than real life, the hood could use a re paint but I’ll get around to that later than sooner.

Re: Anyone seen these Gas fill saddle doors
Not solo, Don’t feel bad. My brother and another restoration body and fender friend did that one. The restoration guy did all the metal work. Some really outstanding fabrication was required.
