Difference in alternators?
I'm swapping out the alternator in my 02 Silverado. My old alternator I think is the 105 amp unit the new one is 140 amp.I know I need a different size belt but is there any thing else I need to worry about? Will the extra amps fry anything?

Re: Difference in alternators?
About the only item that comes to mind is the size of the red wire that goes onto the stud on the back of the alternator. Get with a gm dealer parts dept. and have him look up that wire and see if the 2 alternators take the same lead, if not order the correct one, as i was told once it's a serviceable item from gm but don't know for sure. Good luck.
