14 bolt dually rear
Hey guys I want to get rid of my Easton ho52 underneath my 1970 k20. Easton is starting to go down hill slowly. I bought a 14 bolt but it came out of a dually truck. I measured and obviously going to cut the perches but I'm thinking everything else should work. Just curious to see if I screwed up or if the dually rear will work. Thanks in advanced Collin

Re: 14 bolt dually rear
a 14 bolt drw actually comes from a cab and chassis truck..
a dana 70 drw comes from a dually (pickup) there are differences in width between the two if I remember right I think the 14 bolt wms to wms width is going to be different than your ho52 |
Re: 14 bolt dually rear
roll down through this down to where it talks about 14 bolt differences...
srw..67.5 wms c&c..63.5 wms drw...72 wms http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/14b_bible/ |
Re: 14 bolt dually rear
The easy button for your truck is the 1ton SRW corp14. I will bolt right into your 3/4 ton, you only need to change the shock mount tabs. Basically no fab, you could drive to welder with no shocks and have tabs welded in if you don't weld. And have some zero rate leaf blocks on hand. I forget exactly but I think I ended up 1/2" one way or the other with the drive shaft length. Very close, near non issue. Read the link that Mongo posted from pirate, it is an excellent read. You will then know which year you want, base on neck down, brake drums with no axle pull and that sort of thing. Good luck with the DRW! :chevy:

Re: 14 bolt dually rear
Just put single wheel hubs and swap to disc brakes and you have a nice axle to put in it.

Re: 14 bolt dually rear
If I remember right, the perch center to center and maybe the WMS are different on 4x4 and 2wd.

Re: 14 bolt dually rear
For 73-87:
1 ton spring perches are the same cab and chassis or not. 1/2 and 3/4 ton share the same perch width. 2wd and 4wd shock mounts are different. |
