Need advice on clutch setup
Ok so I have a 65 c10 with a 1965 corvette 327 motor and a Th350 automatic transmission. I am wanting to convert the automatic transmission to a 4 speed muncie. What will i have to do to change it over. I have a clutch pedal assembly from another donor truck already. I am thinking i will need to purchase a clutch and pressure plate. Do i have to purchase a different bellhousing also? What else i am missing/

Re: Need advice on clutch setup
you will need a bellhousing...you'll probably also need some driveshaft work...and possibly the trans crossmember...you'll need all the linkage with the pedal assembly. .clutch bellcrank ..pivot ball stud...make sure your frame has the bellcrank mount on it...

Re: Need advice on clutch setup
Don’t forget the pilot bushing.
And a shifter that clears your seat. |

What does the bellcrank mount look like? Pat |

mac..It should look similar to this....from the factory they're riveted to the frame...sometimes they're broke or get cut off by po's...will be inline with the rear of engine under

Re: Need advice on clutch setup
So i picked up the Muncie 4 speed. it came with the shifter and arm attachments, a new clutch and the 67 camaro bellcrank bracket pedal assembly. I bought a bellhousing off of e-baaaaaay from big city corvettes that should work. I will need to purchase a new flywheel, pilot bearing and shifter stick. What else am i forgetting. Oh and thanks for your help your advise and information is so very helpful.

Re: Need advice on clutch setup
will a camaro bellcrank work on the truck?...I can't picture them being the same
you'll need a clutch fork as well...and pivot balls...and you said new clutch so I assume its got a pressure plate with it... |
Re: Need advice on clutch setup
You’ll need to check the size of your clutch and get a flywheel to match. Not all flywheels are drilled for both sizes.
Also you need to match your starter to the new flywheel. |
Re: Need advice on clutch setup
You can not use a Camaro clutch bellcrank in your '65 truck. You have to have a bellcrank specifically for the '63-'66 trucks as well as all of the other clutch linkage. Plus you will need the ballstud that screws into the block in the forward location. What exhaust manifolds or headers are you running? Not all of them are compatible with a '63-'66 truck running a manual trans. Also is your engine mounted in the correct original location for a small block? If not none of the factory clutch linkage assembly will work.

Re: Need advice on clutch setup
Sounds like a cool engine option. I'm cloning a '70 Corvette motor for my '70 C10.

Re: Need advice on clutch setup
I bought the original bellhousing for that vette engine. I also purchased all of the other clutch linkage. The bellhousing takes a 10.5 clutch and pressure plate so I think I will need tpo purchase them along with the correct flywheel. Is that correct?
