Tighten up Tilt column links;

On C/K trucks in 1995 they went to a “new” style column.

If your truck is a 1994 or older the following information should help.

Here are some steering column sites with photos that tell how to repair loose tilt columns. The photos should be helpful.

Looks like on this site he did the quick fix and did not take it apart far enough to tighten all four fasteners.

This is gonna be a great help to those who seek help, without asking "where, who, etc.," before doing a search for the help they need. There's a lot of information on here that people can access, if they will just take the time to utilize the already available resources.

Edit: Also wanted to say that an 88-98 FAQ section is a terrific idea -- it seems like every day there's somebody with EGR/IAC/ECTsensor problems. The FAQ section should be subtitled "Is your truck running weird? Check here first!"

I am new on THIS forum...... Trying to search 'stickies' to find a replacement windshield wiper DELAY MODULE. ( I can only find the motor at auto parts places.) In SoCal.

FAQ seems limited (I think)

Limited to only what people post in here to help out.

A parts store would be the best place to find one i would think..

This part of the forum is just for posting FAQ's

Amazon or Evilbay both have them. I bought one recently on Ebay for about $24 and free shipping. Just search for your year's wiper delay module. Should be a bunch out there. Sorry add Pulse to the search or it pulls up old stuff. Its really a pulse delay module, real easy to replace.

Re: 88-98 FAQ's "Is your truck running weird? Check here it could help"

I didn't see this one posted about weird running, I thought I'd share what I learned from Chevytech:

If your TBI engine is acting like a bad fuel pump, or bad filter, almost stalling and then recovering, like it's almost running out of gas... check the little rubber hose in the gas tank, between the fuel pump and the steel fuel line, down in the tank. If it looks old at all, replace it. If it gets a pinhole it can make the truck act strange due to low fuel pressure.

The wiper delay-pulse module and the motor they show doesn't look anything like my '88 GMC C2500......

WHO has the correct one? They claim it is for an '88, but they are wrong.

My truck is a 1989, and this happened to it. I'd assume all the TBI trucks are set up very similar, so that would be from 1987-1994 if I remember right. It's inside the tank. It connects the fuel pump to the metal fuel line that goes to the engine, so you have to remove the tank (or remove the bed, that's what I did) and remove the fuel pump/sending unit module.

If you remove the distributor from a First Gen. Vortec engine

If you remove and replace the distributor in a generation I Vortec engine, it's correct position must be checked by scanning the cam retard number. According to GM it's referred to as the Camshaft Retard Offset Adjustment.

Here is the shop manual page for it.

http://carphotos3.cardomain.com/imag...arge.jpg?modal

The timing of a Vortec is not adjustable but the position of the distributor must be at a reference point of 0 degrees +- 2. This will have an effect on idle quality and fuel economy at least.

We know without doubt that a Snap-on Solus, Solus-Pro and Modis will show the cam retard value. Others may, but I'm not aware of them.

Just to let you know, mine was reinstalled without checking the cam retard going back as far as 2005. I was careful to reinstall it each of 3 times doing the intake gaskets. It never gave a code after the install. The last time a week ago after a complete rebuild, it was at -13*. Never had a code.

Now here's one thing you won't read in any shop manual.

Once I got it to 0, in no time it threw a code 1345. Let me repeat that. I was off for over 6 years and never threw a code. After I set it to 0, it threw a code.

My recommendation comes from others that have experienced the same thing. Set it slightly negative. The spec is +-2 away from 0.

Again I want to repeat for people using "google" looking for this information. If you remove and replace the distributor in a generation I Vortec engine, it must be checked by scanning the cam retard number.

Re: 88-98 FAQ's "Is your truck running weird? Check here it could help"

Actually the L31 was used in the following

1996–2003 Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana full-size vans
1996–1999 Chevrolet/GMC C/K full-size trucks
1996–1999 Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Suburban full-size long-wheelbase SUVs
1996–2000 Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon full-size short-wheelbase SUVs
1999–2000 Cadillac Escalade

The basic block is still in limited production as a crate engine as several versions including the ramjet 350.
