What’s it cost to chrome a grill?

I have a painted grill and would like to chrome it. What are people paying?
I have a 63 gmc.

It will be significantly more expensive than getting a used chrome one. Hundreds more.

Someone recently posted here that they got a quote to chrome their grill at $1600. Having parts chromed is EXTREMELY expensive in the USA. It used to be much cheaper up in Canada, but I do not have any idea what the cost is now.

And on top of it being expensive the quality of the work is not there they tell you it is triple plated but it is not They double plate with Nicole and then chrome triple plating is copper nickel chrome restored an old boat few years back had to send most of it back twice some of it three times and this was a shop in Florida called space Coast Crome was supposed to be the place to have your work done I am told that Paul’s chrome does excellent work what I have seen look goodBut it could cost you as much is you paid for your truck I would find a new grill

I had the grille for my '62 plated this past spring. El Paso Electroplating. For the grille, minus the headlight bezels which were already chromed not too long ago. Paid $280.

I recently received a quote from Advanced Plating in Tennessee to have this grille chromed...minus the insert. Just the grille was 1200.00 and the headlamp bezel were 175.00 each....That's a lot of money especially when you can buy a set of chrome bezels for less than 60.00.

Needless to say I will be looking at some alternatives.

Advance Plating has always been expensive but probably does good work (never used them myself). Good to know about El Paso Electroplating, jchav62 thank you.

Classic Industries has repop 64-66 Chevy chrome grilles for $250. Only the one style available though.

Pauls quoted my Grille and head light bezels at 2000.00....1500 for the grill and 250 each for the bezels:hmm:

Side note is that Advanced said they had a fire and it will be 3 or 4 months before they can take work

An alternative is to get it powder coated. A lot of the newer chrome and iridescent Cerakote powders make it more cost effective and durable.

You might check in your area if there is someone that does spray chrome. Check it out on YouTube.

Jchav62, I have not heard of those prices for 30+ years around here.

Great price !! The local "Locos" use to take a truck load down to TJ to get plated. I had my 53 wagon's grill plated for 350.00 back in 1999.

I checked at my local chrome shop a couple of years ago, and they quoted me $500 for a 1960 GMC grille and headlight rims. I have a perfect unplated grille that's ready to go, but that's still more than I can throw away on something so vulnerable.

Spray chrome! That's an idea. I had the wheels on my wife's Ford Edge spray chromed three years ago. I had to ship them to Chicago. Looks like real chrome and has really held up. I wonder if someone could do a grill?

Sounds like a got a good deal! :) When I got the quote, I couldn't ship it to them fast enough. You pay to ship it down to them, but they pick up the tab for return shipping. Turnaround time was about 4 weeks.

I've heard of a guy that come through Albuquerque every few weeks that does the same thing. I've never used him. I'm not sure where he's taking the parts either. :ito:
