painting blazer fiberglass top ?

I have a 78 blazer and the paint has faded and gone to the fiberglass strands in some spots.Do I need to apply something before primer such as a sealer. Is there anything different in painting glass,special primer or sealer as mentioned

Track down 'hemi43' on here.

The guy dropped a boat load of knowledge on me. I followed his advice and my top turned out exceptional on my '72.
