Paint touch up questions

Need to do a few spots of touch up on my 87, the biggest is a spot about 2” by 6” on the door, where the paint pulled off while removing the old trim.

I would like to mask it off, and just repaint that area. There are only about 4-5 spots on the whole truck that is down to primer. Truck is and 87 with what I believe is mostly the original 5118 black paint.

Had they went to BC/CC paint yet? Since I’m unsure of what type of paint is used, what prep work / materials would you recommend?

Truck has been well taken care of over the years so except for the few mentioned spots, I feel a full repaint is not needed.

I’m no body man, just a DIYer, but have painted a few vehicles, though the last was about 20 years ago.

Thanks for any advice offered

I'm no painter either but if its original paint and black it may be hard to match the old paint doing small spots like that....

I guess it just won’t have to match as I’m not doing a full repaint for less 30 square inches of chips total.

If you want it done so nobody can tell, don't even try. Just take it to a couple shops and see what they tell you. There's some magicians out there that pull it off but won't touch if you've messed with it.
