So I am getting ready to pull my Blazer off the back burner and put it back together so I can enjoy some snow wheeling this winter.

I got a little carried away with the body work and panel replacement and welded up the mirror holes in the doors, Like an idiot I had the windows rolled down in the doors and didnt think twice about it. Well I got some seriously slag burnt windows now.

I just got some replacement windows from my co worker, but they dont have the metal channels attached to them, I will have to re-use my old ones. I have had bad luck with one in the past always comming loose from the channel. How do I swap them, is there a glue that would work better?

Most glass shops have the rubber strip that they can use to install the window in the channel. If the old rubber strip is in good condition then I use 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive to glue the window in. I have done several this way over the last 20 years and have not had a failure.

Auto glass shops use rubber glass setting "tape" and it comes in varied thicknesses. I just brought in a vent window and had it set for $7.

No glue.
A long time ago before this forum was really where it is today I ordered a piece of the "tape" from LMC. My dad was over one day and I asked him how I set the glass in the channel.

He asked for a hunk of 2x4. He proceeded to take the glass, channel, rubber, and 2x4 out on to my lawn and proceeded to WHACK the channel on the bottom of the glass with the rubber in between. It has been a long time but I think he had me mix up some soapy water to act as a lubricant which of course later disappeared when it was dry.
