Minor upgrade this week. I replaced the cut down stock front bump stops with some low pro polyurethane stops.

The ride has improved a little more with more of a gap. So far I have had no wheel rub issues. The lowrider bounce up front has pretty much gone away.

Nice job on the documentation of the before and after measurements on your hoe. I'll be looking more at this as I decide how low I want my Limted.

Thank you!

My plan for this weekend is to remove the overload spring in the rear. I need to drop the rear another inch or so. I want to see how that will help.

After lowering the truck some time ago, I never really finished the rear bump stops. In the picture below, you can see the larger one where I cut it down some from the stock height. I have since modified it more. I cut the sides off longways then cut the rubber down to a 1/2 inch. Now I have 4-5" of travel in the rear.

Happy New Year to all!

Its been a while since doing anything to my Tahoe. Here is the latest upgrade.

New headlights!

During

After

What a difference. I wish I did that years ago! My new amber running lights are brighter than the old headlights. :)

The next on the list is a front grille from an 88-92 C1500. I want to give my 97 Tahoe and older look. That will have people scratching their heads!

Wait, what? 88 Tahoe? Nah!

I have almost the same truck lol. Tahoe looks good!! Where did you get the lights from? Mine arent too bad just yet. I lowered mine similar way, cut a coil up front n shackles for the rear. Rear springs are tired so dropped more. I almost went with the vette style rally’s, I had a truck with the truck rally’s but wanted a different look, my car had the vette rally’s n looked great, found some pics online n look awesome on these trucks. But I found a set of C5 vette wheels cheaper than I could get truck wheels. 295/45/18 rear n for now 255/55/17 up front, but want 275/50/17 to match the rear Nitto’s. Course tires ain’t cheap but think it looks good till I decide what to get. Need to run adapters/spacers, which isn’t a concern, but need to get measurements right or spending a lot on spacers...

Re: My 97 Tahoe build

I got the lights off of ebay for around $62. It included headlights, turn signals and corner lights. It was easy to do and they didnt need much adjustment. Its typical "Straight Outta China" stuff. but my old lights were as dim as my new running lights. I use to run around with my high beams on and no one cared. LOL

This has been by far my favorite vehicle and dont ever see getting rid of it. I have almost 260k on the clock and still runs like new.

So with your picture, now I know what mine would look like with paint! :)

Thank you! Next on the list for this weekend is to replace the multi function switch on the column. A few YouTube videos later and now I'm ready!

Lol it looks good in the pic but up close not so much. It’s got some scuffs n scrapes, but for a 98 in my area it’s nice!!! No rust which is really nice....

Re: My 97 Tahoe build

Same here. I have some surface rust on the roof, but nothing anywhere else.

Re: My 97 Tahoe build

Fast foward a year and a half and those headlights "clear coat" wrinkled up and blew off. The plastic housings started falling apart also. Im glad I kept my old lights.

I spent some time with some 2000 grit paper and wet sanded them. then polished with Meguiars PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish and that got them looking pretty good. I do have some LED bulbs arriving tomorrow to get them looking bright again.

Tell me what you think..

Sorry im just getting to your post. The headlights were the ones falling apart. I put all the originals back on there and polished them.. They still look pretty decent.

I have been having a little fun with some exterior items. Here is a before picture.

After the grill swap.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...oe_Grille.jpeg

I also replaced the Tahoe badges.

So I went older on the grille and newer on the badges.. That may get some people scratching their heads :)

I just swapped the 88-89 quad headlights on mine. I like them better, they don't yellow.

I got them from a junkyard. I had to clean up the metal parts, which was just the buckets and rings.

Yeah, you’ll have to check salvage yards or Facebook marketplace if you’re on there. There are several Facebook groups for these GMT400 trucks and Tahoes as well that might yield something. I just saw a set the other day, but I can’t remember where. I have a set for mine that I purchased from a guy on the GMT400 forum a while back. Hopefully I can get them installed finally this year. Mine has been dormant for the past few years.
