its outlawdrifters fault! oh wait, maybe I was preemptive with my blame haha. edit: I didnt want to bump the project without any work being done but today we cleaned up the yard from all the junk left after the addition and dismantling 10 trucks and taking down a shed, etc, and I found the home planet of every brown recluse spider in 10 miles. there was a large pile of LP smart siding cut offs and ends that the contractor didnt think he had to do anything with and after picking up one or two pieces we noticed there were 10-20 brown recluse on every board. most people will SAY they saw a brown recluse because they see a brown grass spider but I know them very well, they are GREY spiders with dirt brown fangs. it took 3 times longer to get the boards up than any other pile of brush or parts and afterwards we were checking each other over. I had two on me and they werent very friendly, but no bites! |

haha no problem, your spot will be under the compressor. I always forget to drain it and that can be your job.
I DID get bit by a brown recluse, it showed up over the week since, small open wound, I can post pictures if you guys want to see them. that makes me 2 for 2 messing with that junk pile, remember last time I got bit but no venom. I got the seat in a position where it might work and its still way too high, needs to drop maybe 4". Joe, don't take getting bit by a spider so lightly. Back when I was about 24 years old I spent 2 weeks in an intensive care unit, and nearly lost my hand thanks to what the doctors think was a spider bite. My hand sweeled up to the size of a football. No literally the size of a football. I had red streaks up my arm and across my chest. and pain like you can't imagine!
Had to have a drain installed in my hand and antibiotics for 2 weeks pumped into me. the first time the doctor came in to change the bandgages on my hand, I had a hole about the size of a hockey puck from the surgery. I could look right through my hand to the other side of the room. Doctor said the hole was so big they couldn't stitch it shut. I took about 6 weeks for my hand to heal naturally. I'm just saying, proceed with caution. |

thanks, I am overly cautious with safety so I wont put myself at risk. I read up on spiders, and we teach catch and release in our house. brown recluse and black widows dont get that consideration. the family knows what they look like too, no accidental squash of a brown spider or a grass spider. in kansas brown recluse are actually more silvery grey, but they have those huge mud brown fangs and you cant miss it once you have seen it. when we pulled back the first board and there were 20 of them looking at us, we almost stopped. while squishing them there were a few that jumped on me and so I had to knock them off.

most spiders are pretty good. we have one in the corner of the dining room, must be 3rd generation by now, catches all the mosquitoes that come inside, its better than flypaper and his web is very small and tidy. if I didnt point him out no one would even notice!
my leg healed, my back healed, so I went on a tear today with johnboy, an old boyfriend of the oldest girl that just kind of kept hanging around. good kid, proud of him in a lot of ways. we got the cab flipped on its back and all the repairs welded up. got the frame sanded and painted, body mounts leveled and welded solid. firewall welded up and seam sealed, even patched the other torch cut. got the front clip and bed and fenders to the driveway for some patina-ing, got the other 41 off the frame and everything in the back yard organized. johnny works well, perfect help. it went so well I didnt take a single picture. haha. maybe tomorrow. mother-in-law is coming into town the 21st and I am rebuilding the steering on her van for christmas so this may be the last work I get done this year with the holidays. |

it was 9 degrees with a -3 windchill when I took that picture, but we both agreed it wasnt that bad outside. when we put the cab back on I didnt even wear a jacket.

Nice progress! I hate spiders, I would have quit after seeing that many of them. The 19x21 looks awesome. Is that the camera or does the lower inlet look like its straight out instead of turned inward like the 19x22s are?

every spider gets a pass from me aside from brown recluse and black widows. black widows feign death but brown recluse are just mad, if you see a bunch of them there is a great chance some are already on you. |

we are done with all the christmas projects, did the MIL van all new steeering and suspension and found the water pump was out while in there so did that too. parties are done and visitors have gone home so it should be smooth sailing. johnboy came back today, got some more done. first we cleaned out the shop stem to stern to get the front clip inside for work, johnny worked on the studs for the cab while I clearanced for the rad and trimmed the lower section.

got it on, still have to line the cab up on the mounts and square it, there is a lot of room in the passenger fender haha. the front is being held up slightly by the air scoop pan, I should be able to just give a couple technical taps with my sledge, rather than cutting it out and boxing it back. steering lines line out good too. I am super happy with how this is coming.

I dropped the seat off this morning, went with a diamond pattern, removing the headrests. they couldnt use my vinyl but thats ok, I got it free years ago and at least now I can pitch it. they said that type of vinyl wasnt made to have stitches that show. someday I will recover my own seat, just to try it.

I need to pick up a narrow wire brush wheel to clean the inside channel where the glass goes, and some glass setting tape. the glass will be here tomorrow and I need it to know what size tape to buy. you can see the repop bars there on the pile. I stopped by homer derpo and got some channel cleaning tools, a wire brush for the drill (and a new drill!) which worked just ok. the hero was the wire brush for the grinder, holy crud that cleared out the.. crud. I spent about $50 on materials at homer derpo, and have about 3 hours in stripping it and welding it. I will have another hour in drilling out the stuck screws and another hour in assembly. so maybe $500 all in? all I have learned is that the rebuilt one is $750 and a freaking bargain haha. but hey! I did something new. |

I got a new car last week, was browsing craigslist new ads (does everyone do that? push enter on a blank search bar and it shows you new ads as they are listed) and I was literally the first to call within a minute of it listing. I have been looking for something nostalgic to drive, the saturn is nice but not really me, so I thought of maybe a nice 3rd gen camaro or even an older BMW. I cant believe my luck though, its what aficionados call an M3/4/5, a 4dr, 5spd manual M3. only two years production and there were a lot more automatics made than manuals. It runs perfectly and the interior is mint. it needs the hood repainted (clear is peeling) but considering its 21 years old, its just my thing.
