Car Cover Recommendations
 

I don't use her everyday, and she sits outside in the heat all day, much to my displeasure. I live in VA, at about sea level, and the temp here rarely exceeds 100 F. What car cover would y'all recommend for my '72 Longbox?

All the tailor-fit ones were too much $ for me, since in my case its only used as a storage cover. I have pics and part # somewhere in my build, but its an Ebay cover for a "Midsize Import SUV". Hard to beat for under $35.

It the thin material for dust protection and small abrasian resistance. I'm not sure if it'll have as much UV or rain/weather protection as you're lookin for tho.

I bought two from LMC truck. One of the expensive ones and one of the mid priced ones. The mid price one lasted about a year before the elastic started stretching out a bunch and tore. The expensive one is still going strong. I am going to buy a new one for my long bed soon and will be buying the more expensive one.

California Car Covers are the best IMHO....they fit great and last.

i second that.
I found one nib at a swap meet for 20 beans its for a later model truck but it fits great except the mirror pockets witch it came with another set of pockets that could be sewed on anywhere you need'em. i'll have wc jr's that fold in so i'm not worried about it.

the ccc's are real thick and very durable but i've havent used it outdoors like your planning too. also i'm guessing new they are very pricey.

somehow i found one for the camaro thats also for a later model camaro that fits great on mine at a swap meet cheap i'm just lucky i guess.

using one outdoors is pretty much a waste of time and add to that the damage they do to the finish with wind whipping it around loses any advantage you think you get

Agreed...u sound like a man with some experience with that. I know I am; any type of car cover shouldn't touch the finish...like a car shelter/tent

I agree if you park outside don't waste money on a cover. I did and regret it!

When it's outside under a cover and it rains are worse freezing rain your screwed! Take my word for this and do not put it under a cover.:chevy:

I've purchased nearly a dozen covers over the years from California Car Cover Co for my vehicles, including for my dually tow vehicles, and a couple of custom ones for my race cars. Not just to support a fellow drag racer, but the quality and fit of their covers are the best in my experience. Here is the newest one for my 1963 C10 short Fleetside.

To each his own...you never get me to go back lol. In my personal experience any cover left out in the elements will do the wa-toosi on your paint... Best protection is not to have anything on it. You may not see it within the first few years.....but when the sun hits it just right you'll be like "what the hell is that!?" It's kinda like watching the guy at the car wash scrub his $50,000 truck down with the scrub brush.... Inside I'm like that thing is gonna look like sh** in like 2 years..
Now I just have to get a car worth covering...;)

I bought one of the Wolf high-end, fitted car covers 17 years ago. Only about 4 of those years was the cover exposed to the outside elements, the rest of the time it's been used while I'm parked in the garage. Still, it's held up wonderfully.

The company that makes the material that Wolf uses on the cover was kind enough to send me a few yards of material to patch up random tears that have happened over the years. They've all been my fault, usually closing the hood or door on the cover, causing a rip. I take it to an auto upholstery shop and they sew patches over the holes.

If you plan on using it outside, you're going to need to secure it well, because it doesn't take much wind to blow it off of your truck.

I got mine at California Car Covers and it's pretty durable. Had mine for about a few years now and still looks good as new
