Keyless Entry 99-07

I know there was/is another similar thread around here that i had commented on before. but I have a similar issue and I am looking for different info.

I have a 2002 GMC sierra 2500 HD. I had been under the impression that it was a 2003 because of the paperwork and as of late it would seem that everything physically points to a 2002 model year or a very early 2003 model year.

The only reason i think this is because the 2003 - 2006/07 trucks use the passenger side door lock switch mechanism as the remote entry receiver. I have 1 2005 and 2006 and these two trucks have the same parts in the right side door but the 2002 has a completely different set up as far as i can tell.

the 2002 has a 'receiver' module behind the instrument cluster and a very simple right side door lock switch mechanism.

with that being said i am unable to program my new fobs to the truck. i have even replaced the behind cluster receiver with a known good one with same part number to no avail. i have checked and changed all fuses and nothing works. I even tried my old used OEM fobs from the 2005 to see what it would do and again, nothing. my understanding is that the fobs should work for many years, from 98-12, i specifically ordered fobs for 99-06 tho so this SHOULDNT be the issue.

does anyone have any further info that i could use to get this working? maybe a wire diagram for the receiver module so i can maybe track something down?

or better yet has anyone located a complete tutorial for installing remote entry into a non-remote entry equipped truck? that might be a good starting point. i have googled the piss out of this and have never located anything useful. a little help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance.

Re: Keyless Entry 99-07

If the truck is a 02 it is gonna need dealer programming.
Just about everything with a plug in the 03 is different than the 99-02 truck. All the electronics are different and though the sheet metal looks the same it is a very different truck. I've owned a couple hundred of this style and junked out probably close to 50 or so. I build wrecks and the 99-07's are kinda my thing right now and I have been building trucks almost 30 years. Now back to you The 03 newer can be programmed by you in the seat using drivers window switches but the 02 needs a tech2

Do you have a tech 2? I wondered if this was maybe the case and even looked into buying a clone.... But I have never used one and I do not know what kind of features it has, or what it can officially do. I have seen several in the $500 range but I just don't know if they are worth buying... Opinions?

Thanks

Mine will not initiate the manual thing at all.

Bought a tech 2. Well try that way when it arrives.
