Got my axle unwrapped and checked the bearing situation and they look perfect and I have ordered the new roller bearings just now.

That's pretty cool! How does it look?

I converted some sliding door rollers into window rollers. Had to sand them down to size then fabricate some bushings out of fuel line.

It all looks awesome. I wasn't thrilled with the box they put it in after I spent crazy time putting it in the box I sent it in. Oh well, guess they know more than I do about shipping and I did an overkill job but damn what a difference!

What they sent was REAL close to breaking out of the box! The drag link was loose bouncing around in the box VERY close to falling out through a hole. Yeah, that was the only part about it that caught my eye. The rest is all good so far.

Very clever work on the window rollers there!

I have been thinking of having the space around my rear window painted in white. I then thought what happens if I don't like it. So I came up with the idea after watching my son and his friends wrapping there import with vinyl. I found a local place to do so. Well, here it is.

I think it looks pretty cool and the face that you can remove it, how cool is that! But I think it works pretty good on your truck.

Very nice looking truck for sure!

I put my five minutes in on my truck working on the front hubs, that's it, removed the bearing races now that I know they work on the truck spindles, and have the new bearings ordered. Ok, that was my five minutes on my stuff.

Then I put 96 "five minutes" on my brothers 39 Ford dash board. HOLY CRAP that thing kicked my butt, I just finished up on the body work at 10 oclock! Geeez, haven't done that in years.

That was genius - and it looks great too!

There are some disadvantages to living in a rural area. For example, it's an hour-and-a-half round trip to the hardware store. And I've had to make the trip twice in two days just get a few random pieces to finish my window roller project.

Today I removed my left window regulator, cleaned and lubed it, cut away the old slider stub, installed my makeshift roller and tested it. It works smooth and slick.

Gee, only 3 days work and 150 miles driving to fabricate a $15.00 part...

Window rebuild continues. Today I put screws into the vent window channel to secure the felt, then repainted the frame. Spent the afternoon sanding my inside window moldings; will paint them tomorrow if the weather allows.

OMG it blows my ever lovin mind to think about what the have for these trucks today! I got mine 45 years ago, if someone would have told me even many years after that someone one day would make the stuff they do like that frame or new steel cabs and fenders I would have fell on the floor laughing it was such a ridiculously stupid thought. And here it is, amazing!

You know what's hard for me to comprehend is that these trucks are now over 70 YEARS OLD! I used to build Model A's, and at 70 years old they could be found in local farm fields everywhere. And now ADs are 70!

When I bought mine it was 26 years old! Today, that would be a 1993 truck! THe photo below is my truck the day I drove it home Dec 1973.

If that doesn't make you go hmmmmmmmm, I don't know what will!

I installed the window fuzzies today. I guess they're an anti-rattle device? In the past I've glued these on, but this time I riveted them.

Hmm, pretty dead on this thread lately. Is everyone on Spring break?

I got my driver side window channels installed, including the felt glass runs, inner fuzzy and outer rubber sweep. I also painted the inside window trim but i'm waiting for it to fully dry before installation.

I also made some window rollers out of closet door rollers. It sure is nice to have my windows go up and down so smoothly and not leak air.

Is that what they call this? Spring break?

I'm scoring the ground for grass seed, spreading seed, fert and straw, changing oil in the grocery getters, cleaning the pond filters, staining the deck...

I think the truck is still in the garage but I'll have to check.

Things on the truck have slowed to 5 min some days. Working on bed right now, hammer, dolly, putty, sand, repeat. Head board has a bow in it, maybe 1/2-3/4”. Anybody had any luck straightening the upper tube? Going to take a bit of force to make it happen, standing on it is not going to get it.

I have been overworked lately so I can't get fired up. I have been working on my brothers 1939 Ford Dash, I will be painting it tomorrow. It's sort of working on my truck as he will be rebuilding my motor in trade. LOL He told me when I drop of motor he is going to deliver a Buick Nailhead so it has a "real" motor. LOL
