bent bumper (backed into retaining wall)

Yep.......I backed into my retaining wall with my new to me 04 Sierra:m6:

I just bumped the corner of the bumper, it tweeked it (man those bumpers are flimsy)
Anyway I have a chrome bumper with all kinds of black plastic like trim.

Just wondering what my options are now for a different bumper.
Any ideas? I see total black ones and also chrome ones on the web for sale.

I PREFER the OEM bumpers. But the OEM replacement 4x4 bumpers (the black monsters) are growing on me.

I did see an OEM 2007+ rear bumper on the back of a 99-06, it looked pretty okay, and it looked to fit well, plus it had the little toe step in the corners.

I think it all depends upon your personal preferences.

Sorry about your truck, factory bumper is not good for bumping. A roll pan probably gives more protection.
Options for these trucks suck. Either a new flimsy bumper or an expensive off-road style monstrosity. I would have gotten a tubular bumper if they existed at a reasonable price. No one makes a step bumper like the square bodies use.

Re: bent bumper (backed into retaining wall)

I am looking for a bumper for my 2005 also.
The person I bought pickup from was a good friend. He has Parkinson's Disease. He should'a quit driving 5 years, was real reluctant to quit.

He's done driving now!!! Thank God!!!

Somehow he drilled his brick mail box with the driver side near corner of the bumper. Pushed it into the body some.
We had discussed me buying the pickup for years, I wasn't too happy about bumper. Every wheel has been curbed, also. I got it for a fair price, so I'm good...

I priced a new bumper from a dealer (I plan to replace with factory type) it was around $220.00 for JUST the steel piece, none of the plastic comes with it.

I'm still looking for a good used one.....

thanks guys for the input. I'm thinking of going with the black bumper like in link. (I am amazed at just how flimsy the factory bumper and bracket are)
