Best order to do base coat clear coat on 2 tone

Ok heres where im at, truck is in pieces and i am painting the parts as i go. I am useing urethane 2 part primer and 2 part urethane base and clear. Easy to figure out on the parts that will be only one color, prime, sand then base coat and clear coat within tech sheet requirement of 30 min to 24 hrs. Problem comes with how to get 2 tone lines in proper place with out haveing truck assembled.
Should i paint the complete truck the primary color with clear coat then assemble and do the second color on top of the primary color and clear coat after i mask off the lines? Or should i just do primary base coat then wait until assemled and do the second color and clear the whole thing then, would require scuffing either way it looks like to me. Trying to not pull a giant screw up in this process.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Paint and clear all door jambs, the inside of the cab, the inside of the fenders, etc. with the primary color. Overspray all edges out onto the main body of the truck. Then put the truck together minus the box. Scuff everything outside that'll get the finish paint job with silver scotch brite Mask it all off with foam masking tape in your door gaps and fender gaps. Back mask anywhere you can like under the rocker panels. Then hit it with wax and grease remover, wipe it down, and shoot the secondary color basecoat (or whatever color is lighter, assuming white if it is a 67-72) where it needs to be, overspraying under where the primary color needs to be. Wait the recommended time before taping, then mask it off. Shoot your primary color. Then clear it all when you are done with both colors.

It doesn't leave a "hard" edge there are a bunch of Youtube videos on it.

I personally am not a big fan, I just "back tape", but I am old school. LOL

Back taping works great too. Sometimes it's hard to get it pressed on for a good seal though in a door jamb. Whenever I use the foam stuff, I tape the back side (the side pointing into the cab) down with regular masking tape to hold it in place better. Another good use for it is when matching the soft edge on replacement rocker panel coating on newer vehicles.

I see it used very well, and I have seen it used where it turns out like crap with a huge "blended" area without any proper shine or coverage. So it's like anything else, I just have't gotten good with it, I am sure it can work well, I have seen it. I am just an old dude. LOL
