Tire size question.
I'm gathering the last of the parts for the one ton cummins suburban (89) looking at tires. Anyone who has done this swap have any in put on what size tire I can run? It's a 3/4 ton with 6" of suspension lift. Want to run 37 12 17 ( have hummer h2 wheels) think it will fit?
Thanks Keith |
Re: Tire size question.
I put a 6" lift kit on my 89 V3500 CC and I believe that I read I could run up to a 37" tire but I decided on a 35" on a 18"x9" wheel. (89 GMC Cummins Conversion build)

Re: Tire size question.
What gearing do you have in it?

Re: Tire size question.
I believe they are 411 but im not certain. I will change gear sets if necessary.
THe tires will be the first thing ive spent on the project. So if I need to swap gears its not the end of the world. |
Re: Tire size question.
37's should fit. It might be close during turning though. It you have 4.10's the 37's may be a good combo to keep the rpm's down. 4.10's and small tires with a diesel don't equal high MPG's.

Re: Tire size question.
Thanks, That is what I hoped for
I am an apprentice machinist so if I need to make pucks to lift the body a little its not a huge deal. |
