Are there any differences in the frames between the 67-72 c10?

The 67 has a wider rail on the frame where the exhaust manifolds on the engine are. Makes it a little harder for big headers and big blocks. There are slight changes to where the brake line brackets are. Other than that they're the same as far as I know.

67-70 don't have the frame indent and bolt bump outs for power steering...

I believe the transmission mount cross member changed around 70, moving it to the rear of the trans instead of under the bell housing...

Others may have more info...let me know if I am wrong about the cross member...

Parts catalogs list 1967 as having a specific steering box for that year. I've seen it mentioned on the forum that 1967 frames don't have an indent in them and that being the reason 1967 has a specific steering box.

I've never heard anything about this applying to power steering or laters. But just because I havent heard of it doesn't make you wrong.

My '70 has the frame indent and bolt bump-outs for Power Steering. When I upgraded to power-steering, the box bolted right up.

My 67 frame has the bumps for the bolts but no indent for the box...

The 67's (as far as I know all of them...) used those old timey power assist cylinders that attached to the center link, with a manual steering gear box. Likely leftover 66 and earlier parts. I saw a complete setup at a pull-a-part yard, should have snatched it up...

Might be reason for lack of frame indent. The cab mount by the steer gear box has to be cut down on 67's to clear power gear box. I have not mounted a power gear box on my 67 yet, but plan to. My buddies son has done this, I will inquire....

I just notched the body mount and used a torch and hammer for the dimple. The new steering box will also interfere with the front bumper brace. Not a big deal.

I installed the PS system from a '68 onto my '67: it required no modifications whatever except attaching the parts.

so the did all the 70 c10 frames have the frame bump for power steering?

The 72 rear cross members are a little different. The brake line on the early frames bolted up to the cross member that has the coil and shock mounts. The brake line on the 72 bolted to the cross member that has the panard bar.

The "dimple" for power steering is not written in stone . I have a 67 that came with a power steering box , frame was dimpled from factory . I have a 68 that came with ram assist "nightmare",, its frame is dimpled also . There is a ton of mix and match , a buddy had an original 70 z28 , it came from the factory with a 10 bolt and powerglide , 2 things purest say never came on that model car , it was original ,it had the 370 horse lt1 also , hauled ass , this was around 1976 , so it was a fairly new car at that time .

im building a 68 and putting it on a 72 swb frame so Ill find out soon enough. also have a 454 so ill see if its gonna fit lol. nothing a lil blood sweat and beers cant take care of!
