Replacing hydraulic clutch line
She popped a pin hole in the hydraulic clutch line right above the exhaust manafold. Does anyone have a write up on replacing the line? i bought one from GhettoZone today and i, wrongfully, assumed it was going to be bolt together like brake lines. I cant figure it out and cant find much online about how it comes apart and goes together. The ends are almost like an air hose, if that makes any sense.

Re: Replacing hydraulic clutch line
Take a pic of the part. My shop manual has a line going over to the pass. side of the engine and no mention of replacing the line. Maybe it needs a tool like a fuel line removing tool, but I'm just guessing. In the F-bodies (Cam & F-birds) they had a line on the driver's side. Not sure which...

Heres the end that goes to the slave cylinder. The other end is the same but on a rigid plastic line. The side going to the master cylinder is blocked and looks like this. https://photos.app.goo.gl/dgxOumWTbGRczP7Q2 |
Re: Replacing hydraulic clutch line
I can't get a copy of the picture to post from your link to show what I am trying to say, sorry if this doesn't come across too clear, but in the 2nd picture showing the line going into the bottom of the cylinder, is that a roll pin?
Maybe if it is, if you punch it out, it will release the line? |
Re: Replacing hydraulic clutch line
The clutch master cyl. and the line might sell as one unit. That's the way it is with my Firebird and probably my '09 H3T. I'd return the line and try to get the whole unit. And yes, I believe a fuel line removal tool would be similar to the tool you need to remove the line. A small screwdriver might work too. Without a complete picture we're taking shots in the dark. I know a friend of mine is very clever when I pose questions like this and I can rely on his ideas.

Re: Replacing hydraulic clutch line
I believe it is a small roll pin. I had to change out my hydraulic line when I replaced the clutch in my 93 454 truck several years back, I pinched the plastic line when I mated the trans back to the engine.
I can't remember, but I think it comes out pretty easy, I may have even used a nail to push it out . |

1 Attachment(s)
93-95 hydraulic line is non replaceable, per Haynes Manual

Re: Replacing hydraulic clutch line
Yes it was roll pins. They were pretty rusted but came out with a nail and some pb blaster. Thanks.

Re: Replacing hydraulic clutch line
Good to know. We see how correct Haynes is.
