Northern '63 C10 LWB

I have had this truck for a few years and have slowly picked away at this truck while still keeping it assembled enough to drive it in the summers. This truck has went through a few changes but this winter I plan on getting serious due to the fact that I now have a garage.

Stuff so far:
  • dropped spindles
  • air bags
  • home made bag brackets
  • Chassistech plug and play
  • 230 I6
  • farmer 4 speed
  • 5 lug 12 bolt rear end
  • huge c notch
  • front fenders
  • front bumper

This is how the truck first looked when I dropped it. All I did was swap out the springs for bags and adjusted the height with schraeder valves. I made some rockers and fiberglassed the doors that I am now planning on redoing (I have learned a tad since i first attempted body work)

This is a picture of the truck after my brake swap, axle swap, spindles, and c notch

This is how the truck currently sits

My future plans are:
  • Porterbuilt trailing arm crossmember (purchased)
  • neato old roof rack (already in the works)
  • fuel cell (purchased)
  • body work
  • 20 inch wheels
  • sbc and 700r4
  • and I may attempt to pancake my front crossmember

I really like the look of that hood on there. What gave you the idea to do that? It's nice just for that bit of "one off" character it adds to the truck.

Slamed66, I have a spare crossmember that I will be attempting to pancake and if I have questions I will probably bombard you with them.

Bear, my wife does a lot of crafts and has used decoupage paste. She has used it for things such as a sealant on some crafts as well as collage making. I really love some of the things she has done and used it for my own inspiration. I used a bunch of flea market comic books circa late 80's to early 90's (the stuff i grew up on.

Here is a closer look of the hood:

bad ass build how did/do ya like the air bags with having to fill them one by one ? thinking of doing the exact same thing ?

Love the decoupage hood! That is such an eye catcher. Especially with the satin black background. What other plans do you have for it?

That would be a cool look for the GMC's with Plaid Valve Covers. I tried to convince a guy up north here to do his Suburban hood in Plaid.

Redneck6, I didn’t mind using schraeder valves much. It’s a slow fill but the biggest issue I had (after I lowered it more with the notch and spindles) is that I constantly cruised lower than I should based on the road obstacles I came across. In fact, you should have seen my exhaust manifold when I pushed the exhaust pipe through it after one gnarly bump. Make sure you have a pump that you can handle what you are putting it through. You need to trust it.

I love the idea of plaid valve covers but I have never considered it because I have a I6 and am planning on a small block. I should paint them up in a similar style. It would be cool to pay homage to a classic design.

The biggest factor in my build plan is time and money (just like everyone) I will be starting stage rally soon and will be competing as a codriver in the Western Canadian Regional Championship next season. So, my buddy Adam with the rally car has it at my place and we have been working on it getting it ready for next season. The safety gear is going to set me back a couple grand of fun money I was planning on spending on the truck.

The Car:

As far as plans go, I first plan on getting at some rust repair and body work. Then redo some steering swap stuff that I dont like how I did it the first time and add a pancaked crossmember. I have been looking at the MB motoring wheels and love the bolt on caps and painted centers…. And price.

If I order these I will consider a color change to Satin Green.

There are so many things I want to do like:
Fuel cell
Hidden air system
Raised bed floor
Flush mount bed cover built out of alumicore and decoupaged
Interior paint
Carpet
Stereo (because I will be able to hear again)
Engine and tranny swap
Exhaust
Trailing arm crossmember

Other than pulling my front clip off and buying a 15 gallon fuel cell I havent really done much in the garage. Work as been crazy busy. I have had a chance to build a gaming chair I have been using for Richard Burns Rally

My wife even lets me keep it in the living room.

I also had the itch to do some lowering

Its a Creature deck, Geoff Rowley Independent trucks, and blanks I got from Skull Skates. Thats about as low as I can go and still ride it....... but there is a bunch of snow on the ground so I wont be using it for a bit.

Thanks, I really enjoy doing things a little against the grain and try to take inspiration from many different aspects of my life.

Totally unrelated to my build and bringing this thread back from the dead. I recently attended a local car show here in Edmonton and put together a little video. My truck is currently in pieces and didnt attend but there is a sweet 67-68 C10 with PB crossmembers that got some camera time.

You probably haven't seen this exact board because I haven't taken it further than a block from my house. There is a few like it floating around though.

My truck is back together. Of course I have no decent pictures of it or the BMW wheels I ended up putting on it. Here is a little video from the weekend.

Finally got around to taking some photos of the truck with the roof rack on Beemer wheels under it. Damn mosquitoes and nosey passer buyers ended my shoot.
