I was just asked a question...

What are the different auto transmissions offered for 88-98? (half tons)

I think the first few years were 700r4, up to 1991?
Then 1992 and up were 4L60e's? Were they all the same up to the body style change?

If the sticky is still going to be made, awesome write-up for how to handle air conditioning issues, replacement of compressor, AC not working etc.

Re: 88-98 FAQ's "Is your truck running weird? Check here it could help"

I just got my first late model crew cab project truck. Its an all original 88 TBI 350. The truck seems to run pretty well but at low idle when in gear it struggles and acts like and sometimes dies. I was going to put new fuel pumps in and new sending units and check the little hose. Did they put a pump in each tank or was it one pump outside the tanks? Has anyone had one act like it wants to die when in gear and stopped?

Thanks!

Re: 88-98 FAQ's "Is your truck running weird? Check here it could help"

I have read every link in this thread so far, and it has helped me diagnose and fix several issues, but I still have one weird, and very intermittent one. 1992 Chevy 3500, with the 350. it used to randomly cut off alot more often, but replaced the distributor and fixed some other issues, and it rarely happens now, but it does still happen. I will be driving along and everything seems fine, hit a bump (but seems to happen more if i have to slam the brakes hard) and throttle response goes away for a few seconds, but I don't think it's immediately shutting off, as if i dropped to idle, and then it will shut off. Shift to neutral while coasting and recrank it, and everything is fine again.
Any thoughts on where to look for the issue?
