Is it possbile to have a Dana 44 with an 8lug spindle?

Hey everyone. Before I get down to business I just want to say that I'm really excited that I finally have a vehicle of my own. An M1009 (aka Military chevrolet K5 Blazer, powered by 6.2L diesel!)

I've been the proud owner of this beast since September and I don't believe I've ever been this happy in my life. It's a thrill to drive, the 6.2 diesel (couple with a newly installed glass-pack muffler) sounds absolutely demonic and is perfect for disturbing the peace in my neighborhood. My Obsession with 1982 - 1991 Chevrolet C/K series trucks began when I was just a toddler. As a child I had always loved my father's 1988 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 (crew cab, dually, diesel) And ever since then I've always been a fan of Dually trucks, for me if it wasn't a dually, it wasn't real truck. With that in mind, I would love to convert my K5 into a dually, My father let me have the Dana 70 HD out of our old 1974 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 dump truck. I spent an entire weekend test fitting everything to see if it were even possible for a Dana 70 swap and everything seemed to fit nicely. However, I can't afford a new axle for the front end. I was wondering if there were any 8-lug spindles for Dana 40 front axles? If so how cheap are they? In-case anyone's wondering I don't really use my rig for anything other than daily commutes to school and or work. (and a place to sleep whenever I'm too intoxicated to drive, I took out the back seats and put a small bed in the back :P)

This is my ultimate goal. Same colour scheme and everything. I'd also like to get a 1983 - 84 grille and light castings but I think the 1973 - 1980 Fenders match the dually fenders more than the conventional 1981 - 1991 front fenders.

Yes, 3/4Ton D44 is 8lug and you can swap out your 6 lug fer the 8lugger outers :metal:

Your front rear is a crop 10 bolt and yes you still can swap it over to 8 lug.D44 were used in the 60 up to early 70.

The bits and pieces will cost more than a complete axle most likely. And you won't be able to have the same wheels front and back. Duallys came with a Dana 60 in the front, and they are expensive. I think the Dana 70 dual wheel axle is not a good swap. My opinion. But, if you can get a complete 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban cheap, it makes a good upgrade to your Blazer. FWIW, you can buy the military CUCK axle with 4.57 and a detroit for about $750. But I have purchased (2) different 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburbans for $300 each.

Easiest way to go is to find a Dana 44 from a 3/4 ton truck. "Simple" swap of the complete axle assembly. As has been mentioned, you'll have to address the gear issues, though.

A while back I remember seeing a K5 with a dually rear axle either in one of the 4X4 magazines and if I'm not mistaken, on ColoradoK5.com. If you're not a member of CK5.com, I'd highly recommend you join.

I have seen this truck in San Fransisco...I guess it easier to park than a full length dually.
It was a little purpler than the rendering, but there was no mistaking the duals.

then get arrow craft adapter to use dually type wheels
you will only need the front part of the kit

Even the new crappy 10 bolt front knuckles outward bolt right on to the 44 housing ... all the same unless you get into the flat top 44 knuckles and some have different brake mount backing plates from what I remember .
