Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
I would have entered but as usual I took the time to go over the "official rules" and as usual it's all legal jargon stating all rights belong to the sponsors.
And then I found this: "Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to substitute the Grand Prize, or a portion thereof, with a prize or prizes of equal or greater value, without liability." Kind of sounds like the winner may or may not receive that truck and 6 cans of FAF advertised but a substitution of sorts instead doesn't it? And: " Sponsor reserves the right to terminate, rescind, or modify this Sweepstakes at any time in whole and in part without prior notice." Takes some of the thrill of entering the sweepstakes out doesn't it? |
Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
Eh, it didn't take that long to fill the form out, I'm cheap labor. I'm more concerned about the use of my likeness breaking cameras for years to come. I could live with that.

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
I read the official rules. I don't care if they substitute the prize - I wouldn't really want to drive that truck anyway. I would sell it and put the money into my Blazer.

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
Yeah, what the hell, I entered:smoke:

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
It says win this RestoMod Chevy C10 and shows a toy model that looks like a cross between an IH and a Chevy. :bsf: No thanks.

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
Sure looks like a giveaway contest, and I'm sure it is that as well. But what I see is advertising in disguise along with an info gathering trap. An issue that (finally) has a major case presently being brought to court against the four major monster internet entities guilty of gathering and selling our personal info. All I had to do is type the first letter of my first name and all the info needed except the first six digits of my phone number were already known. How convenient? Not so sure I'd call all the badging I'll receive are worth saving me a handful of pecks on the keyboard. Then they snake in a "receive promotional bs" (from the ones they'll sell your info to) check box that they automatically check for you (convenience??) when you click the first box. They are counting on most folks not noticing and not unchecking the decision they made for you (mo' money again). We have people who refuse to fill out the US Census, buy to possibly win a truck are willing to freely offer this info to benefit a business that makes a goop you don't want inside your tire. Carry a javk and a spare you nimrod!

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
Yeah, I figure it's data scraping, but the phone screens calls for me and if I get a stupid advertising email I just mark it as spam, and the emails from that source all end up in the spam folder.

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
I guess we don't purchase enough Fixaflat in Canada to be included. Maybe we should use another product.

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
I'm a bit worried about the two guys building the truck. Looks like they are "drifting guys". What the hell is drifting all about anyway, it can't be about racing? Its gotta just be considered a performance, you know like ballet or clog dancing. The goal seems to be to take turns as inefficiently and slow as possible. Then burn as much fuel and tire tread as you can. Invented in Japan, same place as obnoxious karaoke.

Re: Fix a Flat giveaway
You're not a cool drift person if you haven't beat your 1/4 panel into the wall or the bumper cover isn't zip tied on. It seems like a real life video game. I don't think being real smart is a requirement. We always called that a power slide and drifting was letting off the gas, or put in neutral, and letting the car roll freely. I don't call them drifters out of respect for the true drifter
