VDOG when is the next one?

See Huero, I thought you were on my side. LOL
No problem, If nobody is against it, I will be the unofficial leader for now.
The next meet, I mention Feb but it could be Jan if you guys want.
Huero, send me an email on what you want to part with.
Also, any ideas on what kind of information you guys would want, or what kind of group? eg, cars trucks, chevy, ford etc etc. Let me know.

Thats a nice and clean 68, after you take off what you want, let me know whats left. Might have to make a deal on a few parts.

Jan sounds better, cause we finally picked up our ol' Panel truck, but he seriously needs brakes, and a few other tweaks & probably a tune-up after bein parked for the better part of 2 decades. He's an ugly truck; and we finally decided, or I did rather, to call him PJ. Let us know man :)

Heck who doesnt have an ugly truck? Well I guess a few of us dont. LOL
But most of us do, or have one in pieces, or other stages. Are you upgrading to disc brakes? What does PJ stand for?

doesn't really stand for anything -- i just think the name works for him. My bf was making fun and said "Piece of Junk" .. lol

We probably will upgrade a lot of it eventually, but we just dont have the funds right now, so he stays ugly for the time being.. Really ugly.. lol. Here's a pic of him, paintjob courtesy of the most recent owner & his kids. It's stock color according to the kick-panel is white. We'll probably need to replace both fenders & door skins (due to massive denting, not rust), the window on the passenger side (knocked out) as well as the floor there, and the keys. But it is pretty rust free for being parked for 15 yrs or so.. lol. This is a pic of him prior to us picking him up on Sunday, now he has tires, and for some reason, a fish (bass sticker) on the driver side door? lol

The link in my sig is more or less what I would like to do to him (photoshop); but the bf wants to keep it resto-modded [looking more-or-less factory, with some interior tweakage, seen here (photoshop):It's kind of a sketch of the back end, that i took some parts from a Chevy Venture interior and stuck em in there.. along with some custom stuff; btw - its purple, not blacklight.

Did you see the pictures from Saturday? I have never done bodywork, but at the meet and talking to other people there, im going to try with the help of a few people. So even if you cant drive your truck, just drive what you can and swap information, and horror stories. You will be surprise who has the same truck problems as you.

hehe - the damage on this thing is really bad; i'll probably get some photos in a few minutes of him as he sits now.
He's got a 283 v8 with a 4spd stick iirc.

The interior idea looks great. If you can envision it, then you can build it.
Non of us are rich, my truck is going on 11 years of work. I've done more this year then the past years. Take your time, you have friends here who are willing to help you.

good to know. If the truck isn't drive-able by the time we do another meet,
We'll probably end up driving our baby-jeep. [08 Patriot]

That will work. I think this SoCal group is going to have to include cars. Kawbe did mention that he like to see cars at our meets also, not just trucks.
Looks like im going to need a car project.

I just got back from Harbor Freight, picking up much needed sanding disc, and other stuff that I did not need. Bout to head out and shop for Lord Vader (The Wife)
J/K she is really cool and supports my truck habbit. Also was going to Classic Industries to pick up the Police Rallye Caps, until I talked to the saleslady, and the price was $25.00 more than the book. The book is only 2 months old. Not ready to spend $140 on trim rings and rallye caps right now.

I hate C.I. Check ebay first. Sometimes, you can score a brand new set for alot cheaper.

Not really big on Ebay, unless they have a store thats local and I can go and purchase the parts. But in this case I will try Ebay, cause C.I. has lost their minds. LOL

ebay is one of those things where you never know what you're going to get & you "get what you pay for" ..

Do you think CI sells quality parts? Buy a set of caps from them and I am sure the are going to have a little sticker on each cap that says "Taiwan".

Taiwan, or Made in Taiwan, your right. Thats the problem im having with a suspension part I got from CPP. The nut on the adjustable tie rod end is to big. This is the second one, the first one was cut using right hand threads where as the adj-tierod is left hand tread. Just went back and got the 3rd one. So its really a crap shoot almost anywhere you go.

I stayed away from CPP after they sold me some defective spindles for my Nova. After, about half a year of having my car on jack stands and finally getting them to admit they were defective, they exchanged them for a redesigned spindle. It was not what I wanted but I was lucky they took them back. Some guys were not so lucky and basically threw $750 dollars down the toilet. Always, ask CPP what the return policy is on a part. You might be surprised to hear "once installed you can not return the part".
From the research I have been doing for my truck I think I am going to exclusively go Early Classic Enterprises for all my suspension parts. Unless, they are GM parts.
If, you do a search on this site you will find some CPP horror stories on some badly designed parts.
I believe if you pay a little more for quality, you end up saving time and money in the long run. Nothing more fustrating then have to remove a part and having pay or waste gas to send the part back then, hoping they take the part back.
