Question? TF right side mirror mounting.

I have a new chrome mirror for the right side door of my 57 but there are no holes to mount it. My question is, do I just use self tapping screws to mount it or can I reach that area of the door from inside and use nuts and washers on it. How have you guys done it? Just asking so I don't take the interior door panel and handles off for nothing.

Take the panel inside trim off look to see if you have nuts welded inside I have seen some have them some don't if you don't then you have to use nuts the outside normally aren't drilled unless ordered with two mirrors.

Probably filler in the holes, should be nuts on the drivers door.
If you pull off the pass panel you will see where the holes and reinforcement is

Re: Question? TF right side mirror mounting.

mine had no nuts,, but there were blank spots where the hole should be,, just use a small drill to get the hole started and drill bigger for the bolt size,, it's hard to get the nuts
on by yourself but it's doable!!

I made a template from the left side, drilled the holes, then welded welded the nuts in from the inside, held in place with the bolts from the outside.

Re: Question? TF right side mirror mounting.

Thanks for your advice, everyone. I guess I should have taken the door panel off before posting my question. There is a hole in the inner door behind the mirror location so it wasn't difficult to get the mirror mounted. I had made a paper template from my drivers door but it wasn't necessary to use it because the holes are already in the inner part of the door, just not in the outer door skin. I used a sharp punch through those holes to make a dimple on the outer door skin, and just drilled using those as a guide. I used locking nuts with flat washers to mount it.
