Reverse Lights!

so my truck does not have reverse lights. and i see most 60-66 trucks do, which ones are the right ones to buy i cant seem to find them in catalog books or online. i want to paint my truck soon and it would be a good idea to get the reverse lights installed before then.

Re: Reverse Lights!

Correct. Your harness may or may not have the provision to hook up the lights. If not, an aftermarket harness for the bed will have it. I ordered my rear harness from classic parts a few years ago and it had the provision even though I do not use it. I can post some install instructions for you.

I'll post stepside, fleetside and suburban instructions. Column and manual shift in case it helps anyone else.

hardest thing you will have to deal with is the switch to turn them on unless your trans cover has been replaced with a later one that has the switch in it .... if you look above at page 318 you can see what they used in 63 with the 4 speed

Great instructions but without the locating templates, what do you do?

Mine are actually a dealer installed(I think) mounted on brackets above the brake light and not in the fender. I know these are available online. I bought the classic parts rear lights wiring harness. Worked great. My backup lights are switched via toggle on dash right now though via my shadetree mechanic uncle.

My 66 Stepside with the SM-420 also had this type of (unobtanium) switch. I have the brackets and the old inoperable switch, I'm hoping I can rig up a brake light switch that will work.

I’m looking to install taillights on my fleet side too. I have everything gathered, just need to find a template, or another fleet side with the factory holes already there so I can do some measuring. I want to make sure I’m 100% on this before I start cutting.

Could you make available your measurements?
