Rear Load Suspension Question

Hi Everyone,

I have been building by 68 C10 Stepside since I was 15, I am 20 now and have accomplished a lot. Recently I Fabbed brackets and mounted a 68 GTO Posi and also installed 2in lowering springs in the rear. I occasionally tow a trailer and load dirt bikes in the back, I want to maintain my current ride height and not have the back of the truck squat to where the rubber stops touch the Axel. How do I accomplish this? Air bags, air shocks ? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I am trying to make this happen as cheap as possible because I rarely tow, however, when I do I want it to be proper for when I do. Also College isn't cheap hahaha

Re: Rear Load Suspension Question

With a 2" lowering spring you should still have a lot of suspension travel. Do a test and load up the bikes and trailer to see where the truck is at. If it sits too low you can add some air bags and that should take care of it.
Post a picture of the truck.

Look at my signature. I added the over load bags inside my coils for this same reason. My static drop along with the helper air bags is wonderful.:chevy:

Re: Rear Load Suspension Question

If that small a load is squatting your truck REAL bad, you may have too much tongue weight on the truck. Back the load on the trailer up a bit over the trailer axles so the truck isn't bearing as much weight. If that still doesn't work air bags[helper type] in the coil spring will do great as well. The air shock work good too and like the helper spring you can choose when to add air. I do think is the load was shifted you may not have to spend another dime, that could help buy books and pizza and gas I do know college isn't cheap I just put through two in two different 4 year programs.
