Also, like the hoist. Did the same thing in my garage but had clamps on each side window and two in the back....

I'd love to see the clamps you used if you think to take a pic next time you are in the garage.

Try MichiganK5. That's where I got mine. Great guy to deal with. Good luck!

I've been trying to reach out to him but no reply. I will continue to look. It is kinda funny every time I see an old K5 on they are usually in pretty rough shape but they always have good sails! LOL. I'll find a set eventually. I will only appreciate them more once they get installed. We plan on going to Daytona for the Turkey Run Thanksgiving weekend. Maybe I will find a set there.

thanks, we love it. Feels like a little Baja truck. I find myself speeding up for bumps in the road. LOL. Color scheme matches the Vette!

Just went through the thread, nice attention to detail on the K5! Looks like a fun driver.

Well Thank you, Thank you very much. (in my best Elvis voice)

Yes it is a great driver especially since I got the AC ducts all sealed up tight now the AC blows you out of there which is important living in south florida. She cools off quickly now. I am getting it back today from the mechanic. I had them install cruise control which was a pain in the ass. Hopefully it works good.

And after that pic, I got the garage all cleaned and hosed it all out, too! Feels so nice and clean now!

No heater?!? Did you pull it out? I think my wife would love not having a heater....aka live in Florida! :)

Yea, suppose to have a lot of snow. Raining right now but 38 degrees. All schools in Denver and COS are shut down in anticipation of storm. 900+ flights cancelled already in Denver. Should be fun!!

I've still not acquired a set of window sails for the rear cap if you come across any...

no need for the heater to be hooked up, never gets cold enough to use it here and the furthest north I've been has been Daytona! LOL

Where did you get the hooks you used at the ends of the rope hoists?

Got them at Home Depot or Lowes. In the Ceiling, I have some 2x6's spread across a number of joists to spread the load more evenly.

Thanks! I'm going to do the same thing. Good design and good information. Thanks again!

UPDATE: I gave the wrong name of the vendor that might help with the side window vent windows. Try searching Motor City K5. Sorry for the mix up. Hope that helps.

BTW: If you happen to run across a link for those hooks could you let me know? I've searched for hours and can't find'em. Thanks.

These are the ones I used. It does say 50 lb rating but I think that is more in line with the shelving system vs. the true capacity of the hook.

https://smile.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-...ateway&sr=8-44

The carabiner I used have a stamp capacity of 350 lbs each. More than enough capacity for 4 corners. each.

Thanks for the pictures and link! Your awesome! I'll be getting that set up as soon as I get some help. Medical condition prohibits ladders but I can have a guy put it together for me. My local Home Depot lists 12 in stock for under $9. Thanks again!

Nice truck - congrats. Always amazing to find one that cleans up and isn't hiding a pandoras box full of issues.

One thing to maybe go ahead and replace are the drive shaft u joints. I think someone else maybe mentioned those. They are the sealed units, with the funky waxy plastic plugs. You have to heat the old u joints with a torch to force the plastic out for removal. They are deceptive. My Suburban went 250,000 miles on the originals. I checked them for play at every oil change - fine. Then the next oil change all of a sudden there was movement. When they go they go fast. Would suck to be on the road or 4 wheeling when one goes out.

Re: thinking about getting this in the morning

Be careful if you leave the top suspended for a long time, it will spread and get a little wider. I don't know if you saw the rack I made for mine in my Sarge build thread, but I left the top in mine a few months and it was difficult to put back on. If you tie the two side hooks together it should be fine. Mine have a safety chain between them, I just need to hook it closer next time so it has a little tension on it.

I found this setup too. Might help spread the load better for long term storage lifting.

Although I have not experienced any warping/re-install issues, here is another optional setup.
