worn tire - newbie question

Hey, I am planning on buying my first 4x4 and am looking at an '89 Suburban. The tires all have a lot of tread except for the front drivers side - it is almost bald on the outside edge. The seller said that he replaced the hubs last winter. Would this fix the problem causing the un-even wear, or could his installation of the new hubs be causing this problem? Also if the problem has been fixed, is it bad to keep driving on this worn tire? Thanks.

Odds are it's just an alignment problem. If you lift the wheel off the ground and it's loose, then it could be a wheel bearing problem that may be related to the hub replacement. It is also possible that there are bent suspension parts. Take it to a front end shop and have them look at it before you but. It's better to spend a few bucks to have it checked out then find out after you buy it that it's gonna cost you a lot. As for driving on worn tires, it depends how bad they are. Ask that again at the alignment shop if you are unsure.
