I've met Larry Page, ["Twisted 6" on the I/I board] at an Inliners BBQ at Daytona FL during a car show. He's the president of the Orlando chapter. Nice guy. He advised me a lot when I was rebuilding my 292 back in '02. Also sold me a hard to get 292 oil pan. He's nuts about Novas.

Looks like a good price but will they work with a standard or do they only fit an auto.

Not sure if it will fit with a manual tranny.

Call 'em up and find out!

Wow. I've never seen any L6-specific parts in either Jegs or Summit's catalogs before. Must be an economic trend.
"387-" is Jegs catalog code for Flowtech. Must be good stuff.

How is are those headers workin out for you? DId they go in ok and run smooth? Do you have a 250 or a 292?

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

Well I wish I could tell you how they went in but the fact is my truck is still at the body shop and have not had a chance to install them.

But will update everyone once I get it back!

And my engine is just the standard 250ci

On my 258 AMC sixes, I would run a Clifford intake, Clifford headers, Clifford cam, and a Holley 390 cfm carb. Also converted to HEI ignition. Sounded/ran like a V8. The Offy intake is recommended for more low end torque...but it is an inline 6 and has killer torque already.

I hear ya, Takes time when you are doing it yourself, plus its to darn hot to be outside all day under the truck.

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

Yeah I am doing a test fit on my headers pretty soon. And just a FYI the instuctions said they work with either manual or auto tranny. But since I only have a powerglide I can only guess on the manual trans setup.

Sweet, post us a pic when you get them in. And i video would be even sweeter. I think i have seen every video on the net that has something to do with a l6 250

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

summit actually has two types of inline six headers for these trucks

jsmithbm 07-09-2009 08:48 PM

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

yeah i saw that they have several. Hookers, Heddmans, and a few others. Price ranged from 131 to 450

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

yep, it shows Hedman, Dynomax, and Pacesetter. Sometimes I wish i had a 292. They sound so good. So much torque

jsmithbm 07-09-2009 08:54 PM

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

i was looking for an intake as well, but i think i will have to do some more research before i decide on which ones to get. I like to side mounted webers. But that may be a little to much dough and show for what i am looking for.

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

If you're looking for a four barrel manifold, the Offenhauser you can get at summit is supposed to make better torque than the clifford

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

hey

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

I guess everyone traded in their trucks during the cash for clunkers sales. My HEI is in. I finally got my headers back from the powdercoater and installed them last weekend along with my clifford intake. Spending next weekend getting my jetting right for my 390. Did anyone else have to notch out a space for their headers in the power steering assembly? That was a whole lotta no fun. Anybody else make any progress?

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

THANKFULLY, cash for clunkers was only like '82 and up vehicles. I believe it was the first year of epa fuel mileage ratings, otherwise how would they officially determine your mileage sucks enough to qualify for the program, know wutta mean? Have fun with jetting :) I'm getting headers soon and know I will have fun with my quadrajet tuning. It's freshly rebuilt, and runs perfect with stock manifolds (slighty richer than stock for my duals, egr+air injection removal, and velocity stack) but being me I HAVE to go and change it.

Re: 250 Inline 6 Performance Build Q's---Hello Brad---

So i had my truck towed over to the exhaust shop today. Man was the exhaust guru mad at me. My clifford headers- one comes right up against my trans filter pan. the other goes right to my throttle linkage. Glad the guy has 38 years experience. So after i get it back i will be getting my jetting for the carb set. If all goes as planned i will be driving this thing for the first time in 3 months.:metal:
