Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
Doesn't rockauto have them and/or complete kit for from and rear? Cylinders-shoes-drums...

Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
Going through this dilemma now myself for my new-to-me 65 gmc. What a pain in neck. Of course the local machine shop is only open 8:30 - 4 M-F so I have to take a day off work to deal with this if I go the Wagoneer route.

Rock auto kits
I'd like to do a dual master cylinder Keeping 6 lug drums I'm guessing with a proportion valve or just smaller lines like OG |
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
For those who still have this rear drum dilemma, I ended up finding the NAPA equivalent of the Centric 122.66028 (Wagoneer drums). I measured them next to my stock rear drums and I think they're going to work, with the additional machining as mentioned before. The NAPA part number is 440-1361 and I paid $25.83 a piece. Now I gotta find a shop to do the machining.

The price on the drums that "fit" (NO LONGER available) was anywhere from $110 to $160 so at $26 you can afford the small amount of machining it takes to make them fit |

I got one at auto zone I think .. Fits fine

Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
Looks like there is typo for the Centric part number it should be 122.63028

Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
I gave #s and screen shot of the ones I bought and put on my truck
Now I need a part number of the dual master that's a direct bolt in and the sizes of the tube adapters 67c10 correct?? |

I am trying to find the parking brake strut bar, shown in the pic. Both ends are offset.
Anybody have any leads as to who sells this? I took this pic from post 20 of this thread. I believe my rear end to be a Dana 44. |
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
Are you missing those on both sides?
|
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
Yes, i bought a set a while back and am now just putting this together. The ones I have are offset on one end only.
|
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
It doesn't appear that the bar is included with any kits I can find.
That may only leave you the options of finding them in a wrecking yard or fabricating your own. If you can borrow one to make a trace, it wouldn't be very difficult to do that. |
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
Last year I took the 6 lugs out of my 66 rear end, swapped the axels and put in the 5 lugs. I may have a couple of the drums you are looking for.
Tell me again, exactly what dimensions you need and I'll see what I have. I'm in the process of converting my current 5 lug system from drum to disc...I do have a set of those 5 lug drums I won't be needing as well as the entire back plate system... Tom |
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
He's not looking for drums. He's looking for the cross bars in that photo. Hopefully you will be able to help him out.

Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
That picture really looks like 12 bolt stuff. Are you sure its a Dana 44?

Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
Roger,
Thanks for the clarification. I must say your threads are very well documented. I have a parts yard in Ontario looking for the parking brake strut for me. www.billstruckshop.com Will keep you informed if he finds anything. Ken |
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
It might help you find one if you refer to the part as a parking brake spreader bar.
I think that's the most common name but I've seen parking equalizer bar also. Best thing to do is call it a parking brake spreader/equalizer bar to cover both. |
Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
You may be in luck...I am going to be ditching this entire rear brake assembly maybe as early as next week. Going to a Baer disc brake system. If you can hold tight, I'll take some pictures and post them here with what I have on the truck now...mine is a 12 bolt and if memory serves me correctly, is like what you have pictured above

Is this what you are looking for?

Re: Rear Brake Drum Dilemma
I am looking for the parking brake spreader bar like shown in post 110, it has an offset on both ends.
The one you have shown has an offset at one end only. |
