Go with a LubeLocker gasket and you wont need RTV.

http://lubelocker.com/products/products/view/2/3

I've got one and no drips, very nice piece!

We'll find out tomorrow I guess Tony. Thanks again, and thanks to anyone else who helps him out!!

Bradley, I'll bet they are quite proud of that gasket! Looks like it would work very good though. I can't find the receipt for the gasket I bought, so I may put it on one diff, then RTV the other. If either of them leaks, I will see about ordering a couple of those. How much did it cost you?

we got any pics of 60-66's with off road front bumpers?

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside

I haven't really looked for them. I was planning on leaving the stock bumper and building a grille guard like A.T. rockdriller's

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside

One like this would use the stock bumper, and would work with the grill guard.

dam now thats what you need to run over some cars lol and the stock bumper one is interesting you could make something like on that green burben using the stock bumper easy enough i would think just bring it out like that one and build a top for it

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside

Adjusted the brakes out, and took her down the road and back a couple of times, and she stops now!! One more step done!

We took off both diff covers, and found out that we have 3.53 gears in there, instead of the stock 3.92's. The ring gear has 46 teeth, and the pinion has 13.

Well, we had our first teenage driver accident today. My son and I were working on the truck. He was supposed to back the truck out of the garage. He has seen me do it many times, and we have talked about what to do, and how to do it, as well as going over the basics just minutes before.

He forgot the part about ease off the clutch, and ease into the accelerator... and he forgot to put it in reverse. Not sitting in the drivers seat, it looked like reverse to me too.

Before I had a chance to say anything, it was all over.

The poor ladder didn't stand a chance...

Neither did the sheet rock... of my rental house...

So next weekends lesson will be in sheet rock repair! :metal:

I know you are all concerned about the truck, she is OK, it almost scratched the paint on the bumper, but thankfully it did not! LOL

So now, I can officially call him crash.

I'm glad to hear it was a minor accident. That should be easy enough to repair and replace. Not making light of the situation, just glad it wasn't worse. My first accident as a teen was much worse :o

Re: '60 GMC 4x4 Long Fenderside

very nice your lucky the truck didn't end up on the other side of the wall lol! the master cylinder took a crap on my 64 one day and it was broken for weeks and i would just creep it around and into the garage when i would work on it and one day i was comin in alittle fast and ended up using the side of the house coming in the garage door to stop destroying all the brand new white aluminum siding my parents just put in haha

My first was quite a bit worse, and involved my Dads truck, and his garage, so I wasn't able to say much. With mine, noone got hurt... other than my backside, the truck and the garage. I just kept telling him I wasn't mad, and I really wasn't, because he did pretty good. He didn't even kill it, he cranked the clutch back down, and stomped the brakes, he was just too close to the wall originally because of the size of the garage.

I just look at it as a great learning experience, where no one... other than the ladder and the wall, got hurt. I can guarantee that he will remember it, at least for a little while. LOL It was a good example of how just a little mistake, can cause great damage.

Haha my sister drove through a garage door and crunched a antique dresser that was inside being refinished with her first experience using a clutch.

This should be ok to post in my thread.

My friend entered into a contest at the local Harley store where he can win a free training endorsement class, a free helmet, jacket, gloves and boots. He has been down a rough road for a few years, and is finally getting his life straightened out, and saving for his dream bike. This would help him out tremendously! He didn't even know he was in the finalists until earlier today, and the voting ends on the 14th. I try to help out the other people on here who post their contest entries, so hopefully some of that good Karma will help my buddy out!

If you have a Facebook account, you can "Like" the Harley shop, and then vote. After that I'm sure you can "Unlike" them. Maybe wait a couple of days if you can though. https://www.facebook.com/highdeserth...42144182495596

His name is Jeremy, and he is near the bottom of the list.

I thank you, and I know he would too!
