The automatic transmission equipped trucks use the same pedal as that in the manual transmission trucks, as far as I know. I'd be interested in seeing what you end up with. But I won't be replacing mine.

Easiest way is to remove the whole assembly as far as I'm concerned.....

Be *REAL* careful futzing around with that assembly. Many years ago, I was pulling mine out, and the pedal arm got tapped, and the spring pulled it up over-center and lopped off the end of my finger in the process. That spring is No $#!+ serious.

Blow torch, unless of course you might want to go back in the future.

I have the whole pedal box out should have made that clear. My first thought would be cut the pedal of close to the top then tack it at the stop so it can't cause a rattle. Yes I know that the brake pedals are the same for both auto and man trucks I just thin k the wider brake pedal would look better

Would it be possible to grab a wide pedal (possible whole assembly) from a later year truck? Not sure when they went to the wide pedal. Might even be able to sell your pedal box to someone looking to do a manual swap.

I haven't compared on the trucks, but on the B body cars it's the same pedal box with a different pedal hanging in there, so all you need is the right pedal and maybe a spacer.

If you have the assembly out all you have to do is remove the arm that the clutch rod fastens to on the right side and slide the clutch pedal out of the bracket, shaft and all.... It doesn't affect the brake pedal.

Lock Doc that is what I did. Once it was out I ground the pedal where it is welded on from the back side. I had several boxes from the 99-02 C1500 laying around so I cut the pedal off that brake arm and welded it to the brake arm in my 70 pedal box. I will be doing all of my trucks like this when I get to that part of the build. i really like the way the bigger pedal looks even though it is just the box assm sitting on a table

Good deal. Glad it is working out for you.

My clutch pedal was already removed when I got mine - the brake pedal and arm still attached as stock. I wanted the larger pad, so I went with the Lokar and I really like how it looks.
