Engine swap 4.3tbi to a 5.7 TBI HELP!!!!

Good evening my name is hampin I am new to this site. I have a 4 month project on my hands and I have lost about all my hair. I left the old wiring harness in and changed the computer that was with the 5.7. Then I went to test drive it. It felt it was in gear with emergency brake on. I had no reverse. I also changed oil pump and motor before putting in and I have no oil pressure or oil in top half of motor. Is there anyone that has done the engine swap that has any suggestions for me. I would like to keep my last couple strings of hair. Ty

If I remember correctly, the injectors are larger for the V8's (5.7's & 7.4's). You would need the correct ones for the 350ci motor.

How do you know it's not oiling?
Quick check pull the 4 top bolts in the valve cover and look for oil.
Was it a good running motor or did someone just told you.
If it not showing on the gauge check you wire to the sending unit.
Driver's side rear by the distributor.
Could be a bad sending unit.
Then swap your old one to it.

You probably want to figure out the oiling issue before looking into the driveability issues. You changed the oil pump, is the oil pump driveshaft in the engine? It is driven off the distributor and is visible when the distributor out of the engine. Is the pickup tube on the oil pump and properly spaced from the bottom of the oil pan? If its too close to the bottom of the pan it will not be able to pick up the oil. You might want to try a priming tool to see if you can get oil up to the top of the engine before you run it any more.

As far as the transmission issues, is the ECU the same year as the truck? What year truck are you working on?

If you keep your hair short its hard to pull it out.
