41-46 chevy radiators??
 
I'm wondering before I go to mock up engine is like to have the radiator I'll be using. What kind of aftermarket radiators are you guys using. There's a few ice seen ones on eBay through a company for 150 was wondering what you guys are running for them without having to reinvent the wheel and cut up the rad support one that's pretty much bolt in with if anything small fab work needed

I have a Walker radiator in my '40. I have used rads for rods radiators that are custom made by jim walker(not related to walker rad). I had a custom radiator built from Custom Auto Radiator for a '40 Ford project, they build pretty much anything radiator wise that you need. I really liked the one from CARs but it was expensive. I am going to use one from them again in my '39 when I am ready for it.

How much was it to get it built 😅 seems like it's gonna be pricey and how long did they take to send it out

I think the one for the '40 Ford was $1000 with the a/c condenser from custom auto radiator. It was a 7 row and the car ran cool even in 100 degree weather. They custom make theirs to order so it takes a few weeks to get one done. I don't know what the walker cost me, but you can look it up, Summit racing sells them.

Dillon, if you are considering a Champion radiator, you might want to check out my post #279 for my trials and tribulations. Although it did bolt right into the stock 46 support there was still some re-work i had to do.

I used a 65 mustang V8 radiator, it was super small and I was able to place it where I wanted (I used tin to close off the larger opening) to clear the fan on my 4.3, but I had to put a 20psi cap on it and run a filler from a durango on the upper hose so that I could clear any bubbles. I also used it because it has a trans cooler in it.

I DO remember that the 66-67 V8 mustang rad was a better fit, it would have gone right in the original core support, it was a little smaller than the 19x22 speedway rad that is popular.

both were around 125 bucks. word to the wise if you use one, put a piece of cardboard front and back over the fins, they arent like a modern rad fins they get bent VERY easy.

I'm actually getting one of those it's just a ebay one but has same filler neck and everything your thread is awesome how you fixed that problem. I'll have to look at your build idk why when looking for builds nothing exciting comes up but when looking for help on a part people comment in and there builds are awesome and never seen them before

Very interesting I'm gonna try this direct fit one from ebay but thank you for advice!
