Re: 505 Green

Have any of you guys had luck with finding a replacement dash pad that matches the 505 color code of your truck? I contacted Brothers about a new dash pad and someone there told me the color code of their pad was M24 green. I haven't tried any other vendors at all, yet, but I'm trying to keep everything looking as stock as possible where I can. I guess I could drop a black pad in there, but 505 green is what the truck originally came with.

Is your dash 505 between the pad and the windshield? If it is, yes, it should have a 505 pad. Mine was saddle colored between the windshield and the pad. Also had a saddle colored mat. That's my old 72 swb 4x4 in the previous pics

Hey See Ten,

It is 505 between the pad and the windshield.

Here's my 505 dark green '68. The bedsides have been repainted, but everything else is original 505.

505 is a paint color. There were no vinyl dash pads made to match body color. And the area between pad and windshield wasn't painted body color. It was painted a flat color close to the interior trim color. If you had the base green interior, that pad is not made. Only the upper trim level colors are reproduced. That green is a lighter shade closer to a kelly green than a forest green. If you have the original interior parts, those are your best reference.

Here's 505, just got it a couple weeks ago. Have more pictures of it posted in other threads I've started...

As soon as the garage is done getting the gas tank cleaned out, and a fresh tune-up I'll spend some time cleaning her up!

Mike, I was thinking that '68 shown earlier in this thread is identical to yours. I swear it could be the same truck...that much alike. I guess that's because both are factory stock.

Let me fowl this thread up to show even a new truck could be this color today, in a fleet order. Back in '92 GMC allowed me to order my truck in this fleet color as long as I was was willing to wait for a minimum order of five trucks in that color. Overall, it took 6 months to get my truck, but the paint only held it up 6 weeks. They still call it Woodland Green

68panelman,
Your truck is DDG (drop dead gorgeous)!
Maybe someday mine will shine like that...

Thanks, I've yet to polish it, older resto. It's why I love single stage paint.

I was thinking of running over to the garage this weekend (if the rain can hold off for an hour or two... and bringing some polish and camera along, polish up a door, or maybe the hood, see if she shines up... I'm hopeful!

Check these out, I just acquired a 9 ft stepside box trailer to build a 1971 K30 with and its going to be woodland green and white. I want it to look like it just drove off the lot when it was new.

HO455,

Thank you! I just reading through the entire thread, WOW! There are some amazing trucks on this site! I'm amazed there are this many still around, and looking so good!

Ok, so I gotta ask.... 455HO, do you have one? 71 Pontiac GTO, or G-37?
I've got a soft spot for Pontiacs, though my 98 Camaro SS is keeping a smile on my face for the time being. Although when my Truck is looking and running as I'd like, the Camaro may have to depart for an old Firebird Formula 70-72...

Thanks again for the thread - very cool Trucks!
Mike

Sort of. I have a set of 71 HO heads (at the porter presently) going on 478 CI short block (done!) Topped with a dealer over the counter HO manifold with a 1978 casting date. And this whole cobbled up mess will go in my 69 GTO. I also have a 71 Formula clone. Nothing fancy a 400 bolted to a Doug Nash 5 speed and a later disc brake rear end..

Supposedly original and untouched paint. SPID gone.... does this look like 505? It's a 1970 for sale locally. Six and a 4 speed.

That is a code 557 Custom Two-Tone of Dark Olive and Medium Olive offered from 70-72.
As burned as the roof is I'd think the lower has had a repaint.
No SPID suggests it could be a cutdown. I'd be checking the frame, frame VINs and the cab VIN plate as being matching and original, including the rosette rivets.

special-K 05-22-2018 07:29 AM

Re: 505 Green

That Medium Olive Poly is a high silver metallic, so more prone to sun fade. Always check for shortened longbeds, but my gut says that's an original truck from what I can see. And yep, that's Dark Olive Poly. Polys are metallic and Woodland Green is a solid from before metallics existed.

That war era truck is sharp! So traditional it ain't funny. That paint scheme is what I felt my '92 had in a modern version. If a company had such a paint scheme that is how the trucks might have evolved...onless they did the whole front fender black, like Asplundt.

Went to NAPA and they were bumfuzzled when I asked for GM 505 paint.

I know it's an old thread but I like that 505 68 K20 stepside.
