Hi everyone :) Ive been lurking around here for quite a while and decided I should join up ! I have been looking at suburbans trying to find one that is semi rust free, has front n rear air and a clam shell rear hatch. So far I can only find 2 out of the 3 items at the most on any one vehicle. I have been intrigued by a 1967 3/4 ton 4x4 I found and here is the vin. I have had my brother-in-law look at it. He does body work and said it needs both front floor pans a little rocker work, rear quarter panel and tail light area work. Some work on the bottom of one barn door and some patches behind the front seat. He said 2 weeks worth of work in all to prep for paint. This burb is very straight and has only one very small ding on the side. Is all original and was wondering what you all thought. The owner is asking $3500 but will take $2500. I think that is to high a price for a fixer upper ? Junk yards pay around $700 for a complete vehicle around here and I think this burb is worth about $1500 to 2K or am I wrong. I don't think old suburbans are valuable as say old camaro's. The cool factor does come into play as only "120" 1967 3/4 ton 4x4 suburbans were produced and it would be nice be one of only a hand full still on the highway.

For many reasons, early Suburban values have been coming on strong.
Where I live that is a $5000 truck easy. Does it really have the shoulder harnesses? I'm sure there's a few around here that would like to see pics. |

I'm not sure if it still has the shoulder harnesses, I never asked him. I would imagine its highly unlikely they are still there. I am mostly interested in the condition of the body as I do not do bodywork.

That's a helluva deal.
My 68 K20 Suburban is just like that one with color and options. I would love to see many many more pictures! Especially of the seat covers if they are still the originals. The 67 and 68 burbs were very very close in options and features, though the '67 seat cover pattern is slightly different than the '68 covers. But, like my Suburban there are many 1967 date coded parts all through it. The truck looks complete, and drivable which is huge for this type of Suburban. Looks like it has a PTO as well, judging by the control in the engine compartment. Mine had a PTO, but was removed early in it's life so I don't have any documentation on it. Man... I'd just like to spend a few hours just documenting this truck! Oh, and everyone has a Camaro... Drive up in a 67-72 4x4 Suburban, and you are the stand out in the crowd. |

I'm not sure but didn't 67's have no side marker lights ?????? This burb has side markers in the rear ! I was told the only difference between a 67 and a 68 was the side marker lights and the diameter of the key switch in the dash. The vin and title both say 1967. The small diameter key bezel says 67 but the side markers in the rear have me perplexed.

I don't think that's a bad price if it runs. I bought a '67 K/10 Sub in 1993 for $2500 [it had a 454 that the PO shoe-horned in]. I ran it hard until I had an engine fire [all my own fault] in 1998. I still have the truck, but it needs a complete rebuild that I can't swing just now.

Currently is non running due to a carburetor issue and no battery.

That is interesting that there is a side marker on the rear.
1967's didn't have them, they came out in 1968. The VIN on the SPID says it's a 1967 K20 Suburban. The dash is a 1967 dash. Here is how I broke down the VIN to the best of my knowledge: K = 4x4 E = V8 gas 2 = 3/4 ton 6 = Suburban 7 = 1967 year of manufacture Z = Freemont, CA (where it was built). 157195 = This is a mix of assembly line number, and the actual number off the line. (not sure how that's broken down). |

I wonder if that Sub didn't get a Rear Body transplant? The mounting flanges around the side marker assemblies are good, almost Production. The 'tell' is the aftermarket cable sleeve. GM did not use them during the '67-'72 period. It would've been wrapped in 1" wide non-sticky black vinyl tape with a clove hitch termination if done on the Production line. It's an aftermarket PO-type mod, IMO.

I have no idea why someone would put marker lights in the rear unless the rear was crunched at some point and a 68 rear section was add in ????? Maybe just an end of year odd duck !

OK, A spring for the jack. Then its just bare blue and brown wires = PO job. If it were done at the end of the year, they would have wrapped the wires in vinyl as well as the [missing] ones in the front fenders, except they didn't do that until '69, at least.
Extra side lights should not be a deal breaker. Your brother-in-law might get some interesting results if he sweeps for Bondo around the back end with a magnet. I love that front bumper with diamond tread top and a spare tire mount. That is a real Moose-Catcher! I have seen that Forest Green with Red wheels look, before. Is it an ex-Forest Service truck? |

Its possible its a forest service vehicle and the rear does have some bondo ;) The guy who is selling said something that it was previously a hunting vehicle n that's all I know about it besides being sitting in a barn for 10 or so years. What would one black rim and one gold rim mean if red means foresty ? 3 different colors on the rims, Red, Black, and some Gold ????

The wheels were probably from a salvage yard, so that the owner could replace the original lock ring wheels.
The lock ring wheels were originally painted black. |

Definitely jump on that, even at 2500. Like bigdav160 said, that's easily a $5K truck around here, especially in running condition. I gave $4500 for mine, and my body looks like a cheese grater compared to the pictures you posted.
