1973-1978 GMC TRUCK & COACH Motorhomes

Looking for members of the site that also have one of these 12,000lb hotrod trucks with plumbing.

Thinking it would be awesome to have a sub forum to cover these here on the 67-72chevytrucks site. There are other forums devoted to them and an almost cult following but it would be nice to have coverage here. Where they where produced 100% by the GMC truck division I would think they would be a good fit here.

Just wanted to test the waters and see if there is any interest besides my own.

Pretty cool story behind these, here is a link to wiki if you are interested in finding out more https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_motorhome

There are threads on this forum for these. While it's a great idea to have a separate sub-forum, since many of the guys that are nuts about the campers/motor homes are also just truck only fanatics - kinda nice to have them all grouped here and just subscribe to the threads of interest. I'm good either way, I would love to see more motor home info, want to get one someday too, so wherever it gets posted is fine wth me - and thanks for sharing the link!

Where it was the only complete motorhome built by a major auto/truck manufacturer ever it would be a cool subforum to set us apart.

A good thing too is that it would not get out of hand space wise as it is the only model covered so it could be simple standalone subforum or housed under the 73-87 section.

Sorry, I totally misunderstood your original post - my fault. I was thinking more general Motor Homes, incl on C-30 class C chassis. These specific ones you're talking about would seem appropriate as either a sub-forum on the 73-87 section or, if expanded to more than just these beasts, could be a higher level stand alone forum (like 4x4s) on the main site. I'd recommend the former and keep the scope narrow like you're describing.

If you didn't know, the Cadillac Power forum has a section for these motor homes.

Wouldn't this obviously be content for the 73-87 forum?

True special k, as far as year of production it would but not much else. These Oldsmobile powered front wheel drive GMC coaches are pretty unique. Thought it would get more looks here and was hoping it would get enough traction to help motivate the mods to create a space of its own here on the forums. I think it would be a cool addition and complement what we have going here. These coaches have quite the following and I think it would be a good opportunity to bring a good amount of new members in to the fold.

I can remember as a kid in the 70's Santa got me a Hess truck motor home just like the one you posted... While out on a very long Harley ride this past weekend with my buddies I saw a pretty nice one for sale. I wouldn't have the foggiest idea where it was though, somewhere in New York is all I know.. Just wondering, why do you consider it a hot rod?

I passed on purchasing whatever else from him. He gave me the alternative to purchase two repo entryways at a similar cost however I need my truck to be as unique as could reasonably be expected and he expressed his different entryways had rust harm requiring welding repair. Assignment writing service He was noticeably vexed this happened....I don't think he "pulled a quick one" yet I believe one's been pulled on him (and me). In any event I had not paid him yet so I was just out sustenance, gas, and time. I drove straight home, 12 hours, so I didn't require another motel room.

Didn't some GM execs form a company called Rec-Trans to manufacture those? Seems like I read that once. I enjoy reading about them so wouldn't mind if those with interests in these vehicles just post in the alternate tinkerings area. The alternate tinkering area might be appropriate, as a former Winnebago owner speaking, you are constantly tinkering with a motorhome. I meant that humorously, as I loved mine.

Correcting myself: Googled and found that I my memory was a little off. https://bringatrailer.com/2015/08/13...discoverer-rv/

Re: 1973-1978 GMC TRUCK & COACH Motorhomes

I believe it would be a shame if they get stuck in with alternate tinkering and not in there own dedicated section of the forum. They are such a great part of the GMC truck history. This site has done such a good job as a place for GM built truck info to have a home, why not for these they are definitely part of the family.

Heck the Cadillac forum has a spot for them why not have a place for them where they belong...with the rest of the vehicles the GMC truck division created.

There is so much information on these GMC motorhomes it would be great to have a dedicated section to start being able to accumulate all of that information in one place here on the site.

Its70, is the Kingsley yours? Nice looking unit.

I've always thought these were very cool looking and didn't want to own one due to my perception of high maintenance to keep it all functional. Maybe I am wrong?

I saw a super clean one pull into Hickory Creek campground in Denton Texas this last weekend.

There was a dilapidated one sitting under a carport in Sargent Texas but I think Hurricane Harvey got it.

Sorry no pics :mm:
