Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
I think you are about to be disappointed and tear up a decent looking truck.
Just my honest opinion though. Why not just buy a cheap beater to do that in? |
Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
cause im a broke high school kid with no budget ...who likes mud XD

Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
Please do not attempt to do this!
I can remember my high school days and all of the brilliant ideas I came up with...and now 25 years later I look back and ask myself "what the hell was I thinking?" |
Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
Been running mud tires on my 67 for as long as I had it. Granted they were the proper size for my truck. You can go a lot of places in a 2 wheel drive you wouldn't think you could but plan on getting stuck a lot. Don't try to get it un stuck when you do without a tow cause thats when you break stuff. That being said I agree with the other feller, your fixing to mess your truck up.

Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
I can promise you I have been through more mud than you will ever dream of going through. I thought it was so much fun in highschool. But I had the truck to do it. You don't have tow points, ground clearance of any kind, a front heavy rear powered truck, a rake that will be ridiculous, horrible gas mileage, and a rear axle and tranny that will not like you at all! Why not put just a decent set of all terrains on in say a 31" flavor and go have fun. I work on a farm and drive a 2wd gmc and take it through plenty of mud. It's not hard to pull out when stuck and still can drive safely on the road. I think you will end up liking it much better. To turn 37s you will have to regear to say 4.56s at the minimum and that will cost you more than just a turd you can pull around behind that truck and can still drive the next day to school when it breaks.

A resto can be just fine too but you will have more fun the other way. Just wash the mud out from under it every time as soon as you can or you'll get some nasty rust going on. |

Amen.....

Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
I know you're young, But you keep posting totally different ideas on what you want to do to your truck. It's your truck so do what you want, but if was mine I would put it back together and murder it out.

Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
i know i do im still over comin the excitement of havin it ...still dont know what im gonna do with it i think ill just get it road worthy and start from there....gotta long way to go

Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
Get it reliable and drive it. Then if you want to, toss some 31s or 33s on the back and enjoy. That would show it to the bling bling wheels more than 37s. A tough reliable truck is tons of fun.

Re: 2WD Mud Truck Route
fix it up to the best of your ability and finacially can, sell it for a profit and buy a newer truck that parts are plentyful and cheap to destroy in the mud.

I read the title to this thread and thought of the 1st truck. (Not 2wd btw)
Posted via Mobile Device Then I read budget.... high school budget, rembered my high school budget, before gas was $4 a gallon and thought of the 2nd truck. Posted via Mobile Device My advice if you want to save money, drive a 2wd truck, and have fun in the mud. Buy a used atv. When you're playing in the mud the last thing you want to do is trash your DD. ..... its easier to load a atv in the back of a lowered 2wd truck ;) Posted via Mobile Device |
