NP205 output flange
 

OK' checking with ya'll. I put my new to me 205 in for a test fit, my rear drive shaft will be lengthened with no further mods needed. The front drive shaft will need to be shortened, the issue with the front is with the 203 it had a 27 or 32 splined flange that the shaft bolted to where the CV joint is, My question is where can I find a 10 spline flange for the 205 so I don't have to completely modify my front shaft?

Might want to confirm 203 spline count first. Might cost the same to swap in a 30 or 32 spline output into the 205. You would reuse your 203 yoke and get a strength upgrade as well.

you will probably have to have your front driveshaft modified to mount up to the 205 yoke....

The 203 front output is a 30 spline. (10 spline 205 is a CV u-joint) You can match a 205 30 spline front output from a later year that has/had the flange. Or you can really upgrade with a ford 205 front output that has the 32 spline and go with a 208/241 flange which is also 32.

only thing special is a non gm size seal for this combo . easy seal to get tho .

and a 208/241 flange sticks out more over the 205 unit.

There is a short and long flange between the 2 alum cases. there is also an aftermarket 32 spline flange that will accept the newer 1350 CV assy instead of the the GM 3R u-joint

So my 203 output flange will fit on a 205 30 spline?

I haven't actually counted the splines yet... I will confirm.

just get your front driveline redone to match your 205, easier and cheaper in the long run...i have heard that the 10 spline isnt as strong as other splines, i say BS, it is just as strong .

Meh, No point in using logic, engineering or whatever.
Spline count is related to shaft diameter and more splines suggests larger diameter, which equates to more strength.

We can also think about the torque multiplication (TM) at various spots. The clutch plate is often 10 spline and there's zero TM at the clutch. In 1st, 4x low range, TM is ~13:1 w/ a 205 and 465. Torque breaks things. That's why on tons is a common phrase on pirate.

I have had 205's with the ten spline outputs for years,40 years to be exact, I don't care what little differences there may be ...the ten spline will be great and last forever unless you are beating the hell out of your truck.....

If my 203 output flange will work I will get a 30 splined shaft. I will be going through the 205 anyway.

You do not even have to completely disassemble the 205 to replace the front output. Just have to pull the retainers front and rear and slip the shaft out the back. It is a little tricky getting it back in though, takes a little finesse. I've done them in vehicle before changing to 32 spline
