Well I took a break from working on the "8th wonder of the world", and started working on building and installing eighth inch thick inner rocker panels. That's when I made a nasty little discovery,,, more rust! (of course)

http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/8471/dsc05050s.jpg,
http://http://img196.imageshack.us/i.../dsc05051c.jpg,

The lower "A" pillars are shot. I looked on Brothers website for replacements (that's where I got the new outer rockers from) but I didn't see where they had any. So I got some coming from LMC.

Went ahead and built the inner rockers but will have to wait on the install till I get the "A" pillar patch. The lower couple of inches of the "B" pillars were also rusted so I cut them off and started to fab new ones.

Yuck, that looks like parts from my old truck that came from Seattle.

Have you looked at these guys?

http://www.truckandcarshop.com/

I have ordered a bunch of stuff from them and have had good experiences with all of the orders.

Free shipping on orders over $350 too. Not hard to do plus they are closer to us than most other places so the shipping time is quicker.

Glad I could help. At least all those years tearing these things apart and putting them back together was good for something.

I "HATE RUST" I think I would have thrown in the towel if I had to deal with rebuilding the cab I guess I'm just lazy or to old to deal with it.

I hate rust too. If you buy them right you don't have to worry much about it. But with my budget, I knew I'd be dealing with some rust. :waah:

Question for you guys,,, which looks better, raised white letters on your tires turned out (exposed) or turned in (hidden)??? I'm kind of partial to having them exposed, I figure old school truck, old school style. But I'm kind of torn, the "new" style seems to be hidden. What do you think???

Re: "TANGERINE" (C20 to K10) (LWB to SWB) (CST/MOD) (5.3)

It depends on the truck and color. Most of the time now days I prefer the letters in. But I have seen some combos that UI do like them exposed.

Hmmm,,,,hadn't really thought about it that way, the color will be white with a dark (close to black) accent stripe between the side moldings. Thanks Bill :chevy: :gmc2:

I feel your pain about the rust. I'm about to get into some rust repair myself. Look forward to seeing you knock it out to keep me inspired:)

I think with the white and black combo you're going with, it can't hurt to have the white letters out. It'll blend in with the color of the truck.

Not a 70, but my DD. The white wheels and white truck, letters out were too much white to me, so they are inward.

i like it both ways, but it dependes on how big the wheel combo is imo...

I guess it's better to find it now!! I'm getting excited to get those inner rockers on so I can mount the cab on the floor (for the last time!!).

Wade, For me it depends on the theme of your truck. I like the raised white letters on old school wheels like polished slots, 15" truck rallies, some baby moons, or even corvette style rallies. More modern wheels billet, torque thrust style or chrome I prefer black walls. But hey that's just me...you need to do what you like. HERE is a good thread. and some pics below

Thanks for the input Mike and the link. Seems like there's no serious animosity one way or the other! I guess I'll sleep on it!
