Re: slammed 57

here i transferred over from the other forum of all my build pic's....I built the frame my self ...i figured by the time i add a front clip and ad the rear clip like my last 57 truck i just might as well built a complete frame since there is only 3 ft left from adding the front and rear..

Nice chassis work, and nice build you have going. The angle of the shocks seem way off, and don't look like they would work, or is it just me?...Jim

Totally agree, BUT shocks dampen spring oscillation. On bags there are no "springs" per se but I still have to believe if that upper shock mount were moved up to as close to the top of the frame notch as possible the function would be exponentially better.

Looks like he might have to lightly notch the lower bag mount and since I'm not an air bag kinda guy I don't know if inflating the bag ONLY extends its length or if its diameter also grows a little. Cause if it does, it will limit how upright he can move the shock. But otherwise some VERY nice fab work.

Very nice sofar. How much did you pay for your fenders and doors if you don't mind me asking?

Re: slammed 57

Thanks Dan, I'll look into relocating . I did have the same set up on my last truck I and it rode fine. But I do see your point.

slammed57 03-10-2015 08:35 AM

Re: slammed 57

Tan man . I paid right around $1500 for 2 front fenders and 2 doors...But I strongly suggest trying to find some originals even if you have to do some rust repairs... this new sheet metal sucks, for I still have to do some cutting and reshaping

Re: slammed 57

well after a couple of weeks of working on the truck i finally have a little progress that i can report. I installed the driver side step and floor... and if you been following my thread , I mentioned how hard of a time i was having aligning the door ,cab and fenders up. Well come to find out the guy who had the truck before installed new steps ( but with the cheaper sheet metal step which is a thinner gauge and no support) but after cutting the old step out i noticed the cab door jams were torqued out of shape , which i can only assume that he didn't re-enforce the cab when he cut out the original steps...but after many measurements of a older cab a friend had , I finally got them back in to shape...at least for the driver side....I sill have to do the passenger side...But with that said the door fits GREAT now!!

http://www.trifive.com/forums/pictur...ictureid=57548

I also scraped up enough dough for these guys!

http://www.trifive.com/forums/pictur...ictureid=57550

as you can see the cab, door and fender alignment is much better.. Thank GOD!!!!
