Re: What do you think?

Whats the value ad of your place VS say:
Truck and Car Shop
Classic Industries
LMC
Brothers
Etc...

Gotta state something that gets me to want to use you when I am driving distance from 3 of the places I listed.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: What do you think?

I can see a couple of the companies you have listed have poor quality parts. :smoke: Some couldn't tell a bumper from a windshield gasket. You can ask around the boards here. I have a reputation. ;) WES

Also look at my join date. I joined and have been working with people on these boards for almost 20 years. WES

Are you talking about my thread? Grumpy old man?

Re: What do you think?

Well you can believe however you want to believe. However I have produced some of my own product that the quality is unmatched with the others. Besides this is a what do you think about my add post not a post where I am going to argue who you should buy parts from. However ask yourself this. Witch one of the above mentioned companies helped any other board member here. ;) WES

I know the answer, so I guess there is no value in our help and experience. WES

He's right.. I'm a hour drive from Classic industries but will never buy parts from them if I dont go and pick them up there shipping is the worst.. I will actually order parts from companies across the country because the shipping is better. And as far as parts go they are all pretty much the same quality for the resto stuff..

I hope its not just my perception But you seem to be coming off a little bit to me as angryI will admit freely I am new to the chevy truck game I usually do cars.. but you asked a question and the first answer is about what us new guys think.. you are just retailers intially most people shop by price until they build a relationship with a company... So you do need to make yourself stand out over the other companies listed.

I have never heard of you or some of the other companies my knowledge up to this point is Classic, LMC, and two other and thats it..

Michael

Re: What do you think?

I don't think you need quotations around Classic or Late Model. Keep your ad simple. It is very busy. You only get the viewers attention for seconds, so make it count. What are you really trying to tell them? I would maybe think about taking out the white truck pic and the sheet metal. Enlarge your logo. If you flip through a magazine you will notice your eye is drawn to simple ads. Busy ones you don't even see. Just my .02. Good luck.

"Suburban's" should not have an apostrophe.

Thank your feedback 1971 Stepside and cliff 67. I shouldn't have gotten caught up in the quality thing. It wasn't what feedback I was looking for. mjoc1, sorry if I came off angry, I wasn't. WES

Thank you dsy1. I missed that. Hopefully it's not too late. I let the editor know. WES

I like it and think it looks good Wes. Your reputation for selling hi-quality parts, your own exclusive parts, and being a helluva guy are what makes you a great vendor.

Its not for another site it is for a magazine ad.

Michael.

I like it Wes, one thing people don't know is you only sell the parts you use in your shop.

Not all of us want cheap crap on our trucks. My truck is very much being built on a budget and I’d rather buy good stuff the first time not what is cheapest. Wes has exceptional stuff. If I lived next to lmc, classic parts, etc. I would still order from Wes or even GMC Paul rather than walk across the street to get parts that are trash before they ever go on my truck. Look at the multi year warranties he offers on lots of his REPRODUCTION parts. These guys sell the parts they use and in my observation they don’t carry the low quality crap that is sold daily from the other usual suspects. I’ve ordered directly from Wes and his parts are different than most!

Sure some people are going to buy the cheapest things they can find to get a build or project on its way but I’d be willing to bet the vast majority are willing to buy parts one time rather that over and over again. Cab rubber parts are the perfect example.

Good luck with your ad Wes. I’m no marketing expert so I will leave critique to those qualified!

If you read his first post, it's pretty obvious; he wants the boards opinion on his advertisement.

The AD looks GOOD.
Classic is the 92nd member on this board which is early. He has some clout.

Re: What do you think?

Wow. Poor guy is just asking about how is ad looks (by the way I like it).
I have a retail store too (not truck parts) and feel for you Wes and I don't even know you.
We are in a time when anything extra a retailer provides is overlooked for the Walmart philosphy. I see it everyday and unfortunately some customers seem to think it is ok to talk to all retailers like they are at Walmart.
Pricing is complicated and I'm guessing Wes spends a lot of time continually evaluating his prices with a balancing act of trying to actually turn a profit for his risk/work/overhead while trying to satisfy price savy customers. It's extremely difficult and customers have no idea what battles retailers fight on their end to continually try to achieve it for those customers.
Shipping is a killer for retailers. They pay shipping recieving goods that they sell too. They are well aware of it and the smaller the company, the more they pay because they don't get the deals (like amazon). However small companies usually have an owner that cares and works his business while providing knowledge of product that the big companies don't have. If you don't need that then buy cheaper. Please don't attack a guy for offering it though.
The two best retailers of good product that I have seen named on this site continually are GMC Paul's and Wes. Unfortunately when I bought the majority of my parts they came from the big guys because that is who I found the easiest. Now I know better and will use these two named. I actually was going to use GMC Paul's because they are in my state. However, with the abuse Wes is getting, I will make sure and buy from him too.

Re: What do you think?

Wes, I think the ad looks good, but I think you could do better. Your best selling point, in my opinion is that you know these trucks, you build them, and you stock parts that you are willing to use on your own builds. You've also been instrumental in getting new repo parts made that are better than anything else available. I don't know how you say all that in your ad, but if there's a way to get that message out there, it's what I would want to know about you.

I think I have most of your self-developed parts on my truck, and I have called you and asked for your opinion in the past, something I'd never do with any of the other resellers mentioned in earlier responses.

Don't let the grumblers get you down. I hope the ad will help you grow your business.
