Back Space: Front v/s Rear
...I'm changing wheels and tire sizes on my 88 Silverado from 15 to 17..I'm choosing the back space and OffSet based on another truck( I put only his fronts on my truck and they fit perfect filling up the wheel wells like I wanted without touching anything)..The other truck was not in the shop, just the whl/tires. We just ckd the fronts which I thought was the main concern)...It was mentioned later in the week (when those whl/tires were gone) that the back space on rear might need to be less than the front in order for all the tires to line up the same with the fender edge..The size I've planned on getting is 265/70 with 4.50 B/S-'0'mm OffSet.. I hope I'm clear in explaining this.

What is the width of the wheel? I ran 16x8 with 4" back spacing on my 96 and they sat same from and rear. I had the sport/stepside bed style.
I had 17x7.5 (265/70) on my 2002. There is not much difference in the years and wheel spacings, but they sat about the same front and rear also. Currently I went back to 16x8 with 4" back spacing and 265/70 on my 2002. I actually like the looks of my old 96 truck when I took off the 16"s and went back to 15". 15x8 (4" BS) and 31x10.50 tires |
Re: Back Space: Front v/s Rear
Backspacing can be different front and rear of it could be the same. There are several different factors that come into play, so front and rear should be measured to be sure. And the rear is easiest since those wheels don't move like the front.
