Hills Hot Rods shop dually build
1 Attachment(s)
Anyone know about the build series on this dually? I'm trying to find some info on it but google (& the HHR site) only show a handful of pics. I thought it was in Streettrucks mag but looked back through my past issues before my subscription expired & couldn't find it.

SCOTI,... it's in the Feb. '09 issue of StreetTrucks.
Just 2 pages in the "Blood, Sweat, & Gears" section. It says 6.0 litre/4L80-E and RideTech stuff up front and their AirBar in the back. The article says they narrowed the rearend,... but I remember seeing a C&C rearend on their website photos. (That's what most people use to tuck those 22" & 24" Alcoa semi wheels). Also a step notch, raised notch cover in the bed and widened stock wheel tubs. They also narrowed the front a-arms 1.5" to tuck the front 22" wheels. (I'm sure Nate could come up with some cool a-arms to accomplish that) I love the HHR truck! I had even thought about making my old '89 crew a dually after I saw Hill's truck. |
Re: Hills Hot Rods shop dually build
When you do the C&C rear and widen the tubs will a fifth wheel still fit? Jay

Re: Hills Hot Rods shop dually build
HHR built my air ride set up at the same time they were working on the shop truck, if I remeber correctly they used the rear end form the 3/4 ton short bed crewcab that is red and it was a 3/4 ton rear end that had been narrowed in order to tuck the wheels on the sbcc. All of the other info regarding the motor and suspension is correct in the artical. Here is a shot the day I picked mine up from them.

Re: Hills Hot Rods shop dually build
Pig rig they are 2 different trucks, the brown and tan is Jason Hills personal truck, mine is the black and white truck, they were just both bagged at the same time. as for the side pipes getting hot it has not been an issue.

I was just looking to see if that was the only info published. Each time I would log in, there would be an update for this thread but was bummed to be reading about something different. No harm or foul :metal: |
