you can still do that with 8 lugs, just figured you'd want to spend money and time on more important items (paint, body, etc..)

Looks like a fun project, is it a fuel injected 350?

Cool project, I love these trucks half-tonned and dropped. To echo msgross's question, is this a 5.7/4L80E?

Awesome looking crew cab "frontline72" keep the pics coming!! I also have a 1999 2wd 3/4 ton crew cab black on tan leather. I'm collecting parts also to swap from 8 lug to 5 lug. I have all the lowering(DJM 2" drop coils, DJM 2" drop spindles, DJM 6" flip kit with shock extenders and drop shocks also a pair of 2" shackles) I still need a 5 lug 10 bolt rear end with a 3:42ish gear ratio and I'm planning on redrilling my 3/4 ton tubular A-arms to take the 1/2 ton ball joint. Plus I have a set of BOSS 309 20". Can't wait to put it all together. keep us posted on your progress.

Grant nice truck. I think given enough time you will make a good solid ride out of it.

I will throw in my .02 on the 5 lug conversion, id stay with the 8, it will mean you keep the possibility of using this truck as a tow vehicle when you are working on later projects. It is always nice to be able to hook up a trailer and know your truck can handle it.

As well with the 8 lug equipment you have much better brakes.

Im not actually planning on using at as tow rig, and im using suburban suspension which has heavier breaking equipment

Re: project...GOVERNMENT DISCHARGE

That looks clean with the new grill and lights "frontline72"! When will you be doing the conversion from 8 lug to 5 lug? As for the better brakes on the 8 lug set up, you can actually use the bigger calipers from the 8 lug set up and bolt them up to your 5 lug drop spindle but I guess for the rear you will have a smaller rear drum ones you change to a 10 bolt rear. You can always upgrade to a rear disc brake set up which can be done fairly cheap with factory GM parts. Keep the pictures coming!! Rob

Looking good. You lucked out with the interior colour to. I always liked the light grey. Mine is black exterior on tan leather interior its growing on me. Now get that conversion started. Make sure you take lots of pictures of the conversion. Keep up the good work.
