oil pressure
I had a guy in town re-build a 350 for me it is a 1976. Everything new finally have it back, took it for a ride and after it warmed up when I come to a stop the oil pressure dropped to about 5-10 pounds. Could that be correct?
Thanks Rocky |
Re: oil pressure
It could be!
You need 10 psi per 1000 rpm. Is it a real mechanical pressure gauge or a factory one? Does it make any strange noises at idle? |

Re: oil pressure
Its not mechanical its electric
I will go talk to them today I was. I wasn't sure if I should drive the truck today. It doesn't make any noises sound good. Thanks |
Re: oil pressure
Does it idle a little rough?
Maybe not related but what’s your timing like? |
Re: oil pressure
My 85 showed 10-15# at idle. I just converted it to a vortec with roller cam and FI. To be on the safe side, I hooked up my mechanical autometer pressure guage. No surprise, the autometer shows about 15-20 more psi. Ditto with the temp guage. In the process of customizing an extra bezel with autometer guages.

Re: oil pressure
check it with a mechanical gauge to confirm the accuracy of your electric gauge. GM oil pressure senders are known for reading low.
